D.I.Y. / Re: Life on a Homestead
« Last post by Hope on May 20, 2025, 06:44:53 PM »
Well, we had another family discussion tonight, all five of us. After thinking about it more, my husband has decided that he does not want to get chickens, mainly because we live on the campus of a boarding school, although the headmaster has had chickens in the past. We have cow pastures on two sides of the house, but neighbors on one side. Maybe one day, at least I did all the research and know how to move forward if he changes his mind. Thanks again for the article & tips!

as in chicks.  Near Delaware?

Say they are not for dinner but you want to start egg producigon and I suspect you could get a fair number.  Feed them a few months and then sharpen the ax.

Nemo's comment, "I think this will do much more damage to the Dems credibility in the next elections."

I agree especially when there are congressional hearings on the auto-pen drama and more about this comes out.

Just between us girls, when the Democrat party come to the realization they are screwed for at least two more election cycles, they will unleash the hounds of war later this summer. What will be the Archduke Franz Ferdinand moment?

Phase 7 of Tipping Point and Collapse:

> Collapse may be sudden (e.g., a decisive military defeat) or gradual (e.g., slow territorial loss). It can result in total dissolution (e.g., the fall of a capital) or partial decline (e.g., loss of imperial status while the core state survives).
> Glubb emphasizes that collapse is often inevitable once decadence (Phase 6) sets in, as the empire lacks the will or capacity to reverse course.

As a side note, I have picked up James Rawles book, "Patriots" yet again. For you folks who have not read the book or have not read it recently, I suggest you do forthwith.

By the way, let's look at phase 6,

Cultural and Psychological Decay:

> The empire loses its sense of purpose or identity. Cynicism, nihilism, or escapism (e.g., through entertainment or vice) dominate the cultural landscape.
> Glubb notes a "frivolity" in this phase, where trivial pursuits overshadow serious challenges, and the elite fail to inspire or lead.

The we also have what Felix we are in the Winter of the Fourth Turning.  ;)

He has a Gleason Score 9 rating on his cancer, a grade 5, giving him the most severe category.  It is reported as highly treatable and responsive to treatment.

Prostate cancer is slow growing and most over 70/75 do not get screened.  But with his Presidential campaign I submit it should have been done, and suspect it likely was.

With the spread to the surrounding bone area I submit it would have been in place and growing in 2018/19 and detectable or requiring more evaluation if he had a basic PSA test.  I suspect many of us get those routinely.

I have had some repeat tests and digital evaluation of my PSA test results in the recent past, and I am waiting a couple months for a close follow-up on a bit high number last week.  I have read a fair bit on BPH and PSA tests and all that in the last year or 2.

Based on the age and independent evaluations I suspect he was tested, and it was concealed or intentionally not done.  The growths he has would take at least 5 and likely 7-8 years to get to the current stage.  Were he tested, discovered, and made public he could not have been in the running for reelection.

That would have left it open for primarying and Trump would have come out 360-400 on the electoral college.

I think this will do much more damage to the Dems credibility in the next elections.

Hate to see anyone have any type of cancer, but his will likely not kill him.  His cause of death may be related but it will probably just be senility or something similar.  But if someone has to get it, he deserves it.

Howe's "The Fourth Turning" is also instructive.

But given the wheels of history grinding one empire after another into the ground, we see _culture_ exhibiting some resilience.
Romans still speak Italian (bastardized Latin?)
The Dutch still speak Dutch as do the French and Brits retain their mother tongues.    Other aspects of their mother culture also persist to one evolving degree or another.

May I suggest that our task is to survive, to persevere against the catastrophes that are descending upon us.     While nothing can or will remain exactly as it was, history suggests that "the good" can project itself into futures which might look dark now.
We are the monks of old, in our Prepper abbeys, forting against chaos.    And when the next Spring arrives, the seeds we carry and have preserved and offer will find fertile ground once more.

 Hope,

Oh one suggestion, the day before the chicks are scheduled to arrive, stop by the post office and or call them to let them know they are coming. TRUST ME, they will be very happy you did so. They will take extra effort to make sure your chicks survive and maybe call you before they open so you can come by and pick them up.  ;)

"But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you."? Luke 6:27

I wish cancer on no man or woman.

With that written, isn't it interesting that we are poo-pooing the timing of the report not the news of the report of Biden's cancer. Bottom-line, we do not trust our government. Case in point, the negative hoopla that has come out post the Patel/Bongino interview facilitated by Fox's Maria Bartiromo. Specifically, "Epstein committed suicide".

Looking at Sir John Glubb's Seven Phases of Empires, it is clear we are in the final phase of the rise & fall of the USA.

The Age of Decline and Collapse

Characteristics: The empire becomes vulnerable to internal strife (e.g., civil wars, economic collapse) or external pressures (e.g., invasions, rival powers). It loses the ability to adapt or defend itself, leading to partial or total collapse.
Example: The sack of Rome in 476 CE or the dissolution of the British Empire post-World War II.
Key Traits: Weakness, division, and eventual dissolution.

In conclusion, The Age of Decline and Collapse, as described by Glubb, is characterized by internal division, economic strain, external challenges, and cultural decay, leading to an empire's downfall. The U.S. exhibits some parallels (polarization, debt, cultural debates, and geopolitical competition) but its resilience, global influence, and modern context suggest it is not yet in a terminal collapse. If aligned with Glubb's model, the U.S. may be transitioning from Phase 6 (Decadence) to early Phase 7, with outcomes depending on its ability to address internal and external pressures. Historical empires lacked the U.S.'s adaptability, but Glubb's warning of complacency remains relevant.

Are we here?
