Pics from shooting this weekend

Since most of my buddies thought it was too rainy I had the range to myself (plus property owner as rangemaster)

Erik do those gloves affect your trigger control or felt pressure?
In principle, no less than in practice, socialism is the ideology of thieves and tyrants.

Not at all.
Good Tac Gloves do not affect your dexterity much.
At least good ones dont.

These Wiley Xs are pretty good for dexterity and protection. (albeit not as long lasting as the price would suggest, still even a partially torn pair is better than no pair at all in SHTF)
......
Soapbox:

I agree not all changes that the GWOT has engendered on 1st world Ground forces are fundamental innovations..... some are just fads IMHO that designed for that niche.., but the universal use of Tac Gloves is  a genuine innovation IMO.

Human Skin is really good at resisting cuts in a natural environment.

But we dont live in a natural environment, we are surrounded by artifacts.
Many of which can easily injure us.

Our hands are what we use to touch stuff, what we use to manipulate our weapons and what we use to brake a fall with, etc
We NEED to protect them, especially in a situation w/ little or no medical support (SHTF)
W/o medical support even one tiny cut can kill you and then you are of no use to your family.

Urban environments are the worst of course, broken up by explosions etc, but even in the woods Tac gloves are essential IMO.
Train-as-you-fight.... so I wear gloves in training.

Only exception is zeroing a weapon.. because I am calibrating a machine (to quote Mike Panonne) that I will usually do barehanded.
Also Handgunning I may do barehanded because handgun use is first choice in a non tactical environment (civilian self defense)

Wrong, right, or somewhere in the middle. I use mechanic gloves that you can find at the big box hardware supply stores. Cost ~$12 to $20 vs. a pair from lets say Blackhawk at $50 to $100 a pair.

A friend of my brother and I who works for the state department as a security contractor suggested them to me. When home from the sandbox, he goes to his Home Depot, tries on a few different styles and when he finds the ones he likes best, he buys a dozen or so of them.

JM

Just postulating here.

I believe Eric was making the point that gloves in general are an often forgotten element of smart protection.

I myself always used the issue pilots gloves while in service. That being the best available at the time back in the days of antiquity.

Now I buy in Mechanix gloves due to a good price point and that they provide the protection I require.

Cheers
