Ken, I would love to have that pistol-grip stock on the 870, but I'm just not convinced that it would hold up well to heavy hits (against hard or soft objects  ). I say this because I hefted a similarly modified 870 at a gun show and wasn't impressed with its durability. What brand is yours? How well does it withstand abuse? Could you use the back as a blunt force weapon without fear of the stock breaking (my main concern)?

I might even be willing to sacrifice the extra shells on my buttstock carrier to have the pistol grip, but I'm just not convinced of its reliability. 

Oh, and (if you haven't yet) you should try the Centurion Buck and Ball combo from CheaperThanDirt. It kicks like a cannon, but it is amazing.

it has massive disadvantages though, such as the fact that it beats your cheek up instead of your shoulder. give and take I guess. one thing's for sure, though. I will never get rid of the original fixed factory stock... just in case.

My primary concern is not for me, but for my wife. The factory standard buttstock is a couple inches too long for her. She can barely get a proper grip on it, and that's when she's in an uncomfortable position. Not that she gives a damn now (or since I got it, for that matter), but for future concerns...I need her to be able to grab and shoot if necessary.

Not yet. I have VERY little expendable ammo, 2/3 of it being steel jacketed I was given by a friend (not sure if I'm supposed to shoot that or not  ). I'm waiting for a time when my dad and I can go to the range together (for the first time! yeehaw!). I'll PM you a report when I do. Or, I can post it here for everyone to see.

Thank ya. People can knock it if they like, but this HK is sweet. Only down side right now is the upper rail mount is a bit pricey.

Thanks. It's a Dark Ops 5x25. I've had it for awhile and was planning on using it when I got my .338, but I figured what the hell I can always change them out later. It takes some getting used to since my other scopes are 3x9.

he lives in california, so running 10rds or less is only possible option, plus and they neuter ar's and others with gay little bullet buttons
he's a a freakin sniper so he really only needs something for out to 100yds and there is no better option for that than the 12guage riot shotgun
so he kinda figured a 8rd shotgun would maximize his fire power for his state/ AO

Most of that shit can be taken off of your rifle if you want it to be like a "freestate" one. Most of it isn't welded on unless they made it a top loader like an SKS (Most PTR-91/FAL are like that in CALI). You can also own hi-capacity mags . . .kinda! They just have to be disassembled and in pieces.

The way I see it. If you need to walk out your front door with an AR then all that shit has probably gone out the window. Get that crap off yer rifle and assembled your mags.

Finances are a factor too however.  In the end, to each their own.  Just hope you and it are more effective than the other guy and what he's bringing.

I went to the gun show today and got some new goodies for the 870. new grip, buttstock, sling, and added a light. i see now that they offer this light in desert sand color so im kinda pissed but oh well. not loving the shiny black though... might just rattle can it. i went cheap on how its attached but i dont give a shit i needed a damn light on the thing already.
