Last year, April 2021 the CPI was 5% year over year. This year, April 2022 the CPI was 8.3%.
So, we had a CPI (Inflation) rate of 8.3% year over year for April of an already high inflation rate of 5% year over year in 2021. In essence, we have seen a 14.3% inflation rate for 2021 & 2022 combined over 2020.
Remember, that is using the 2018 CPI formula. If we were to use the 1980 CPI formula we are looking at 21% inflation when you combine 2021 & 2022.
