Yes and no.
The yes part first: MrsMac's parents (Now gone to their reward) and my mother & stepdad make racial stereotype comments and slurs all of the time. Mostly directed to Jews and Blacks. When they do I feel uncomfortable mainly do to fact that we have many Jewish and black friends.
MrsMac's parents were dyed in the wool Democrats and union supporters. My folks are your typical WASP's. With that written they all had similar dislikes of the aforementioned races.
We have spoken to them often and ask them to not express their predigests when we are around. For the most part they don't but it slips out every now and then.
Now the no part: I think it is the natural human condition to have predigests against ethnic or religions that are alien to "us." Just by reading the Old Testament we will see that predigest has existed from Adam & Eve time till today. It is when we take the extra effort to purposely come in contact and then mingle with these alien ethnicity's or religions that we loose our predigests.
Me, when I hear a joke that will make me cringe and I can't quietly walk away. I listen, do not make a comment pro or con against the joke, and then just walk away. This seems to catch the eye of the joke teller and minimizes future sharing of like jokes in my presence.
Last Comment: I do not want you to think I do not have predigests because I do. I am predigests against the man or women who is driving with a cigarette or coffee in one hand and a cell phone screwed to the side of their head. I am predigest against the guy or gal who wands me at the shooting range after I point out their pho-pa. I am predigest against the person or person's who judge me based on my political leaning's without taking the time to genuinely try to understand where I am coming from.
