Oh "they" are waking up and moving to more conservative states who's state governments are smaller than NJ, have a reasonable state budget and meet that budget year in and year out. The ripple affect is, these folks from CA., IL, NJ, NY, etc., that are moving are taking their liberalism to AL, FL, MS, NC, PA, TN, TX., etc.
I believe that Maryland also has a rain tax. It is based on how much the land of a landowner is paved. No landowner gets away unscathed. If your house has a larger than what Annapolis deems "appropriate size", will get taxed too. Add to that, all folks who buy a commodity, as business owners will just pass that tax along to the consumer.
