CME coming.

 A small CME is heading towards Earth and is expected to hit us between Sunday and Tuesday. They said it is nothing serious

JoJo, often when we get these reports we also get a idea of where it will affect the globe the most. Was there anything about that in the warning.

Okay. There are two CME's coming our way. Neither one will hit us directly but will pas the earth on either side. The date is March 11th. The night of March 10th, make sure you at least unhook your antenna cables from your radios. The best would be to put your radios into your faraday cage.

you can use the feature that emails you alerts also.  no spam in my opinion.   very few emails total.  so the fact i got another today (2nd this month - march 2019)  makes me a little nervous:

NOAA is predicting a G2.  I'm not gonna head for the bunker but its worth keeping an eye on.

Wow! A G2 is nothing to sneeze at.

G1's I typically just pull the power and antennas connections from my radios. G2's I contemplate moving my radios to the Faraday cage.

Kbop and TacticalHippy, is there a guest-to-mate as to what part of the globe will get the brunt of this event?

JM - for my part, a CME is a cloud of plasma.  Plasma has a pretty strong electrical component - So, when it is ejected from the sun, its more like a blanket that spreads out as it gets further from the sun.  That blanket hits the Earth's magnetoshpere and wraps around it.  Trying to say where its going to hit is better defined by the latitudes effected.  a weak CME will only cause trouble at the north and south poles.  the stronger the storm the further towards the equator the effects are seen.  this G2 is several logarithmic levels lower than the Carrington event probably was.  if you want to be extra careful, disconnect your antennas - especially long lines.  There may be some power outages in Canada, or Northern Europe.  Storms this size have done that in the past.

as Nemo mentioned people living @40 degrees or higher latitude might want to look to their northern horizon and see if they can see a green or red glow from the aurora tomorrow evening.
