Sometimes I think the original topic gets discussed, views and opinions are stated. It sometimes gets heated. Then after it all, a little comic relief may be needed. Probably just running it's natural course. It can't be doom and gloom all the time. IMHO

True. But if they scroll and read along the way, then they'll see the important stuff has been gone over. If they scroll right to the end, they don't care about the subject matter anyway. Who knows?

Well, glancing at the title I'm probably thinking that chick is about to be temporarily detained and it's the right thing.

I've been thinking about this topic all day, someone texted me about it night before last but I was out backpacking and couldn't speak my piece.

And thank god for it too! I can see both sides of the argument and can get fired up from either direction. Manning is a fucking traitor but so is every politician that would sit at his trial.

What I really want to talk about is our public image and the lack of female involvement here at StraightPrep.

As Reaver so wisely points out when new folks come to new forums they end up skimming a lot of the threads rather than getting into them. Personally I like to lurk around reading the 'active topics' until I know the players before I wade into the archives.

But you got to dig that people come here and see us jumping on each other like rabid dogs and they (rightly so) are scared off. Imagine that you were a 'nice' woman and you see that every thread on this forum goes from someone expressing an idea, getting their shit pushed in and finishes on a solid motorboat?

The world is listening gentlemen, I have provided you a stage. What say you?

You make some good points in your post.  And Reaver is certainly wise.  I will say this, anyone who spends any time reading the site won't have to look very long to see we're all friends.  We all have our own opinions, we mostly agree on some things and disagree on others.  Sometimes adamantly.

We can bust each others chops one minute and be doing a buddy chest bump the next because in the end we all know we're in the same boat.

As to how women think when they visit (if they visit) I'm not sure.  Who can figure out a woman's mind?  Perhaps if they said something when they're here we'd get more of line on their train of thought.

I do know the guys act a little differently when they know a female is in the forum.

You're right TG. I've noticed posting can be tricky. You have to be careful how ya word something. There is always somebody ready to pounce. You want to discuss something, then you get  this "yeah, well that f#@*^&g sucks and my f%&^$(G  thing is so f*^#@g much better" stuff. It does get old.

Yeah HJ, its bullshit the way we jump on each other. Everyone has the right to an opinion and people like to think that gives them the right to beat others with their own opinion.

For those of us who came here from the old forum we know each other pretty well but that familiarity could scare off new guys who may well have a ton of great shit to offer.

So lets try to make a better effort to be nice to one another. <-not directed at anyone in particular

Alright I like it we got a good vibe going here, like daddy just slapped momma at the dinner table lol. I was close to saying the same thing reaver did but kinda decided since I was apart of the initial grrr I thought it was better to just let everyone shake hands and be able to laugh together again.

As for scaring off new folk I lurked this forum for a few hours before actually joining and the trolling one another and and heated discussions showed me that you guys are like family the good the bad and the ugly. And I knew that for a sodium forum it was an invaluable source of information and comradery that for me is highly unlikely to be found else where. Now if anyone else can see the possible enlightenment to be had here just by lurking is beyond me but I think even through all the shananagans people will see the merit of this community.you guys are pretty awesome dudes and ive actually learned quite abit from you in my short travels I've made through the murky waters of enlightenment we so call straightprep.com/forum

Not me, although I've been called a mother on more than one occasion.

Oh, I see.  It's funny, some of the guys used to call L&L their daddy and now it's TG.  The lil bastards just aren't sure who their daddy is.  LOL!  Not that I'm calling anyone a lil bastard.  It's more of that imaginary metaphorical stuff.  LOL!

Hi guys! I had the EXACT same MOS as Manning.  96 Bravo.  Intel Analyst.  I puked and bled and jumped out of planes and worked to do my job.  What do you think of me???

That MOS no longer exists now in the ARMY.  I guess the need for good analysts and intel is gone...

What do I think of you 1kmStare?

Your pretty ornery for a dude with a replacement hip!

But no really you didn't hand over a grab bag of intel to some English puke who then blasted that shit all over the internet did you? No?

Dude you did your job and went home. That kid was a skate and a first class blue falcon. Two different dudes all together.

After the Army did away with that MOS I felt like a part of me died.  I was REALLY pissed when they decided to change uniform regs and give everyone in the army berets just for being in the Army.  A beret must be EARNED.  A beret USED to mean something:  maroon for Airborne, black for Rangers, and green for Special Forces.

Yeah, I'm ornery and mebbeh a fast healer, too.  Less than a month after surgery I started walking without a cane yesterday.  That's lightspeed for hip replacement.
