Just Some Food for Thought

Just some food for thought...

China, (GDP $12T), Japan (GDP $4.8), and S. Korea (GDP $1.5T) are ranked as 2nd, 3rd, and 12th respectively, largest economies in the world. Just for contrast, the USofA GDP who has the largest economy in the world is $19.4T.

So what do you think would happen IF N. Korea starts a war in the region? Would this fuel a total collapse for the region or the world? If not a collapse, what then?

Add to that thought, how would a war in Korea affect other countries that are involved in the region too: Russia (GDP $1.6T), Australia (GDP $1.4T), and Indonesia (GDP $1.0T) which are ranked the 11th, 13th, and 15th respectively economies in the world.

The russians have been buzzing Alaska for the past few weeks with their bombers and have been escorted back to their airspace with our new fighters, that troubles me more than anything else at the moment. putin is begging us to shoot one down and I think we will if he keeps this up.

GRIZZ that's been going on for many many years and most of the time it never hit the papers. During the height of the cold war they would shoot down one of ours and we would shoot down one of theirs. I was stationed in Kansas between 1960 to 1963 and would get the stories from the pilots who went TDY to Alaska.
In principle, no less than in practice, socialism is the ideology of thieves and tyrants.

economically if DPRK and South Korea went to war - everyone would freak out.
several thousand people would die.  I'm not sure if China would engage the South Korean's as they moved north - that might get out of hand quickly.  I suspect Russia would move in to "quell" the turmoil or provide "peace keeping".  that could also get out of hand quickly.  China and Russia don't want the US of A or an ally sitting on their border.  China doesn't want to loose the cheap labor along the border.
-
after the mess is cleaned up and the border situation is sorted out (assuming the war doesn't spread) things will get back to normal.  i don't think a major economic blip would last longer than three months.

assuming the conflict doesn't spread.

China would move in quickly to provide the peacekeeping.  I do not think they would engage SK.

China would stay for years for peacekeeping.  Many many years.

Interesting comments gents.  :bravo:

I have a hard time of leaving the thought that a conflict in that part of the world involving 6-8 of the worlds top economic countries would be a serious blow to the worlds economic fragile economy.

Then throw into the equation all of the Muslim refugees in the EU and the AntiFa groups here in the USA. Also throw into this witches brew all of the hot spots in the world. South Africa, South America, and Middle East comes immediately to mind.

The ting that I cant keep breaking away from is which of the factors is going to be the match in the tinder.  If there is a conflict in the Pacific rim the economic ripples could amplify and kick off the tensions here at home.  If the conflicts here (antifa, protests, etc) get worse will that embolden a clown like Kim or the Iranians leading to a bigger conflict there. As Johny mentioned there are plenty of areas of the world that this question can be asked about. If the unrest in Europe grows due to the "migration" will that kick off other area?

With the world getting so small and the worlds economies being so linked what used to be just a regional or internal conflict now become factors in much more extended conflicts.

Agree 100% Chris

There are many benefits being part of a global economic community BUT there are plenty of negatives too which you bring up Chris.
