When another country sets off explosives it's called an act of war.  When an independent or sponsored group does it that's called terrorism.  The SOC has never had the function of freeing the oppressed masses. (captives at times)  Maybe you're thinking of some Army Special Forces missions.  Yes, they are the tip of the spear many times.  Followed closely by things that go boom in the night.  Their main function is intel and target elimination to weaken those considered the enemy.   

They follow orders.  If you don't approve of the orders they're given, that's what elections are for man.  But don't crap on those guys.  They, in many cases, take unbelievable risks to follow those orders.

I'm gonna go ahead and weigh in on this "movie" ... first off this was orginaly going to be a recruiting for the navy and instead they turned it into a movie. So now doubt is a bunch of over the top bullshit .... With that being said

I will not ever see this movie. I can't stand the seals and its all 100% personal.

My wifes ex husband was apart of seal team 6 ( I saw the fucking paperwork ) .. I hated that man and the shit he put my wife threw... So I'm not saying that i think the seals are not badass.  Cause they are. they do there job like most of everyone else in the military. and yea they are hardcore. But........

I will not want anything to do with them based off of what i have seen out of them thus far. I know it is stupid and it may make me narrow minded but I DON'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK!!

I'm not trying to be a smart ass.  I'm sure her ex was an asshole to her.  I've never thought special ops people should be married for a number of reasons.  I will say this.  Seals are not taught to trade blows or even consider doing so, period.  If he was in fact a SEAL, and you were in a hand to hand confrontation with him for over 6 seconds he wasn't trying to kill or maim you.  That's just a fact.  They are very aggressive in moving in close and there isn't any arms reach stuff going on.

I'm not saying they can't be defeated.  But don't underestimate them.

I jumped with SEALS back in the day when a detachment of them came to Bragg for joint training.  Seriously not impressed.  I had to rig a SEAL Lieutentant's single point release on his rucksack because he didn't know how.  They did free-falls and weren't used to static-line jumps and equipment.  Anybody can free-fall.  A real man goes static line - basically it is a controlled crash.  Major reason I had a hip replacement at the tender age of 42.  Paratroopers RULE BABY!!!

P.S.  Kudos to Fuel Hogg for getting Airborne in his contract, hope you make it through Airborne School.  It takes a special breed... [url=http://www.freesmileys.or

Did a counterdrug thing at Truman Annex (JTF-4) in Key West, Florida 1991.  There was a static-line water jump available and extra chutes available.  I tried to strap-hang but the SEALS were too snobby and too good to let me jump with them.  I was fully qualified and trained for that type of jump.  Inter-service cooperation?  I could have sharpened my training but they wouldn't have it. I agree with you.  When they get pinned they get a snobby attitude.  (An, oh yeah, we're bad kind of thing.)  It usually wears off when they get in a hot zone with you.  Funny how that works.
