Blue Force plate carriers

So I was parousing through a store today and they had some nice looking plate carriers made by Blue Force Gear for $250. Plates not included. It fin really well and covered almost all of my tiny little torso. Anybody ever heard of these guys or think it's a good buy? I don't have a plate carrier at all and figured I would go back one day and get the plate carrier, mag pouches and all.

Looks good. Don't listen to people who say not to use armor. Rock armor and a chest rig so you can pick either for a certain mission.

Id buy plates first then a carrier. You need to make sure you get a carrier cut for your plates.

I would also look into a slick carrier though, and just throw a chest rig over it.

Check out OpticsPlanet and Botachtactical. I picked up an Eagle plate carrier with cummerbund and an Eagle Rhodesian vest for $150- & $135- respectively.

The Eagle Rhodesian is a fine rig and wearing one over a slick plate carrier allows you to tailor your rig to the task.

Thats good but a better option is to take the back of a eagle plate carrier, And mount the Rhodesian rig to the back. It makes a really good setup. I would go with what tom said if your chest rig does not allow rifle plates.

I'm coming around to the idea but have yet to find a simple bare bones way to hang one of those suckers from the front of an H harness (actually would like it just behind the straps). Just a damned pouch without all the tie in crap for hanging more stuff on the front of your chest. Stupid simple plate carrier, probably gonna have to sew one up.

Does anyone fire from prone anymore?

I've run the BFG. It's friggin' nice, love the plate pillow. I removed the side plate pockets to reduce bulk, and I don't run side plates. This came out sometime after I got my Crye JPC, and I just had to try it anyway, so I did. I highly recommend it.

That being said though, the Crye is the same price, I like it more than the BFG.

No. No you don't. Besides the super obvious weight factor, you want armor that absorbs the round. You don't want armor that fragments the round into your face, arms and dick. Really, you don't.

armor is heavy as fuck and leaves an awful lot of your body unprotected to to mention how fucked up you will get even if it does stop the bullet, collapsed lungs, internal bleeding, broken ribs

armor is great if you got a med evac option or a hospital near by
but when your on your own completely i'd rather lose the 20 extra pounds

just make sure if you buy plates for this after you buy the carrier, if you buy a "medium" carrier you need "medium" plates...

I aDmit I am new to body armoire, but it would seem to me that people like us could utilize steel armour better than ceramic. Think about it, ceramic can take a few hits and it's threw. Steel can take many many hits which to me would make it ideal for carrying out a prolonged campaign without ressuply or if in Shtf there aren't any ways of getting ceramic. And I believe the weight of steel is being exaggerated here a little.. A ceramic is around 5 and steel is around 7? And plate weight isn't as critical as gun weight because it is close to your center of gravity allowing the skeleton to take the brunt of the weight and the plates are balanced fore and aft canceling each other out.

There's that and the fact that ceramics can break if dropped and how expensive they are. To me a steel plate backed with some padding would be a very good system. But what do I know? How dare I comment about plates when I have never been in 'combat'.

that stuff adds up..plates, water, ammo, weapon...sprinting ect...but i would like a nice light metal plate, i would personally run soft 111a on the outside to catch frag.
