But the problem was that Zimmerman had been reading Burke, when he should have been reading Kafka.

"Someone must have slandered Josef K., for one morning, without having done anything wrong, he was arrested." That is the famous opening sentence to Kafka's novel, "The Trial", words that have far more to do with the way we live now.

George Zimmerman is not on trial because he shot a black teenager during a scuffle. It's not the facts of the case that brought him here. It's his name. Had his last name been Pereira, none of this would have gone anywhere. And it's not the name alone, it's that in this time and place lynching him will help make the political fortunes of everyone from the man in the White House to his cheerful smiling prosecutor who is already counting her campaign cash and book deals.

You younger guys are seeing things change a lot faster than they ever did before.  In decades past the PTB made tyrannical changes and power grabs in little chunks or tiny bites at a time.  In the past few years, especially the last 4, they are doing it almost every week with something new being forced upon us.  Some of it in scope  and audacity is quite shocking.  It's almost like information overload.

They have definitely accelerated what they are doing.

You are exactly right Sledge! It is being done much faster now and with much more audacity. They used to sneak stuff past you. Now it's "Yeah, we're screwing you. What are you going to do about it? Just before I read your last post, I was sitting here all pissed off wanting to type in how much all of this s@#t nowadays infuriates me. I was having trouble finding the words. In reality, I have the words. But there are way too many of them! I wish all of it would slow down some. It is almost impossible to enjoy the pursuit of happiness anymore. There are all these parasites that keep taking and taking. There are all of these " politically correct" a@#holes telling me how to live. Screw politically correct! I don't have to be politically correct. Who the hell are these parasites to tell me what's correct? Take care of yourselves and quit sponging off of me. Then you can say what you want and I'll say what I want. Last night, Some family members and I got into a heated discussion over this Treyvon/ Zimmerman subject. I basically said wait until all of the facts come out before the guy gets convicted. They, (fueled by emotion and influence) already had the guy up the river. I kind of ended the arguement when I requested the name of the 78 year old man that was beaten by the 6 youths while saying this is for Treyvon. It got a lot quieter very fast. None of them could give me a name. I rest my case. Anyway, I don't now where this world is heading. But it is getting harder and harder to enjoy the pursuit of happiness.

I always use Sir or Ma'am, or Mr. or Mrs. unless I'm specificually instructed not to, and it happens way more that you would imagine.

Even then, I still mess up and use, Sir a lot, even though they told me not to.

I never took a beating for it, its just the way I was raised.

Our neighbors to the north of us are in their seventies and I have lived where I do for over 15 years. My wife and I still call them Mr. & Mrs Simpson.

A few years ago my wife inherited her dad's house post his passing. The next door neighbors to that house my wife calls Mr or Mrs Forsyth and they too are in their seventies. They have been Karen's dad's neighbors since 1961 and my wife and I are in our mid 50's.

The judge presiding over the Trayvon Martin shooting case removed herself Wednesday after the attorney for defendant George Zimmerman argued she had a possible conflict of interest that related to her husband. (April 18)
