Wolf WPA ammo anyone use it?
« on: October 24, 2011, 07:30:56 PM »

thats what it looks like.

im asking because this stuff doesnt have a lacquer coating, it has a polymer coating.

i have read a few reviews myself and they are all good. one link,
http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_16/545837_Ammunition_review__Wolf_WPA.html

but i am confident that my gun will cycle the black box Wolf just fine.

from what i have also read about the black box. is people think the main problem with cycling is that when the chamber gets so damn hot the lacquer melts and nasties up the chamber, and when it cools and hardens to the point where you get a FTE...idk i havent got a chance to test it yet.

but regardless i am going to buy at least a few boxes of the WPA to test, we have some Wolf black box here we still need to test, just looking for other opinions.

I use it for plinking and practice when I need to shoot a big quantity of ammo. It's cheap and it's run flawless for me. I have fired over 1000 rounds through my BCM BFH upper with BCM Ion bonded BCG; and I've had absolutely zero malfunctions. The accuracy hasn't bothered me either.

This video clears up most of any questions you will have about WOLF ammo.

EDIT: I don't know why the goddamn video link works half the time for me, just copy and paste I guess.

right on man, just what i wanted to hear first hand experience. thanks

Great Post, I sure did appreciate the first Hand Experience, I've not been fold of 223 wolf in my AR, but it was the older Laguer case, I will try some of this and see, as well!

I'm on the last few hundred rounds of 2,000 rounds of WPA. I never really got any stuck cases, which is the biggest issue with steel cased ammo in ARs, and I got lots of them with other steel cased ammo. Even when I got my carbine very hot, like doing multiple mag dumps, I can't recall a single stuck case. I've actually had more stuck cases with brass cased PRVI 62 grain.  I did get a few failures to fire, including one that cost me a second or 2 during a v-tac 1-5 drill portion of a match stage.   :'(    And it is pretty dirty, although I'm not super anal about a clean gun, so it's not big deal. I did clean out my chamber with a brush and a mop after every time I shot it.

My carbine is a 16 inch barrel 1/7 twist with a carbine length system and a H buffer in case anyone was wondering.

Accuracy from the WPA ammo was good enough to hit a half size steel silhouette out to about 200 meters from sitting.

I plan on buying another 2,000 rounds eventually, once I burn through the last of this I'm going to run my AK for a while.  [url=http://yoursmiles.org/p-m

It's more often that you run into problems like stuck cases when using steel cased ammo than switching to brass, than the other way around. I always clean out my chamber after shooting steel cased, usually more thoroughly than the rest of the rifle.
