The wife
« on: February 24, 2012, 01:56:47 PM »
Ok boys and girls I'm at a point in my preps where I am taking a look at my stock and cutting out all useless fat. I am only stacking 55.6 /223 9mm and 12 ga.. i have gotten rid of all other ammo and weapons.....now to my point

I am useing a glock 19 as my main sidearm. So 9mm is a must. My wife loves 1911 due to the fact that they fit her hand more comfortable then all other pistols. She currently uses a kel- tec 380 pocket pistol as her EDC. But I'm wanting to get her something that would be a good purse pistol and EDC for WROL.

Any ideas?

I know they make 1911 in 9mm and it is not something I'm interested in getting into. And I'm hoping it can be a slim frame...

Also , that fucking Kel-tec is getting fucking sold .......THANK YOU SWEET ZOMBIE JESUS!!!

Beretta Storm Subcompact 9mm

Simple design, accurate, easy to conceal, safety is a roll away firing pin so one in the chamber is safe, double action, 13 rounds, can use all full size Storm high capacity magazines.

Read up on this one.  It is a great gun.

That XDSC is a really feaking sweet 9mm, but it may not be small enough, may not be comfortable enough to shoot, ect, ect, but I'd give it a look at least.  She probably won't like it, but I've been wanting one for a while.

It's not a matter of being big or small. It's a matter of having a slim grip. For refference she finds the glock 26 ( sub compact)  too bulky of a grip.

Kahr's are pretty slim.

I don't know if they have different sized grips for those are not.  Its a double stack I believe, so its likely to be very big for her hand, if she hands small hands like my wife.

I completely understand her finding the Glock 26 feeling to thick....but by all means, stay away from Khar.  THEY ARE OVER-PRICED JAM-O-MATICS.

Would a Browning Hi Power do the trick?

Ive never held one so I dont know how they feel compared to 1911s but I do know they sell mags that holds 18+ rounds for them now.

My buddy had one, and I liked it, and he never had a malfunction with it, either.  I guess you might get lucky and get a good one.

Yea but I'm not spending 800 on a pistol. I'm trying to stay in the 400 range...the hi power is nice but I'm not dropping that kind of coin.

Get a used one. I see Royal Tiger Imports (who used to be IO, Inc.), has original HP's for sale.

Or find a HP-clone for around $300, get it refinished, some nice wood grips, and viola!, nice HP without breaking the bank.

It would be nice but I'm still trying to get some kind of compactiness. I was looking at the ruger lc9 or kel-tec pm 9 ...but there is way to much creep in the trigger ...

That LC9 is a hand cannon too!  I heard its very uncomfortable to shoot because of all the muzzle flip and recoil.

My wide had a similar issue. She has a hard time shooting my Browning Hi Power. So she tried the Lady S&W. She had a problem with that one two.

Well to make a long story short she narrowed it down between a Sig Sauer (I forget which one but it was a 9 and had a single stack mag) and the Ruger SP101 spurless. She bought the spurless.

My neigbor up at the BOL was looking at handguns too. She tried all different flavors (All semi auto's) and didn't like the grip on any of them.

Well one day my wife and I were up at the BOL and we heard a knock on the door. It was our neighbor who wanted to show us the new hand gun she had bought. It was a Ruger SP101 with a hammer. She said it was the only handgun that fit her hand.

So there you go; two women, independently picking the Ruger. Is there half moon clips for a 9mm wheel gun available?

Trigger on the lc9 sucked!!!! I had never shot one but had my wife rent one at the range one day she said she hated it so I shot it some, there was a half inch of travel in the trigger [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at . And i ike rugers but I would not get it for my wife, the wife and her friend both of which dont shoot much loved this little walter .380. My advice if your wife has a kel-tec .380 she like get a kel-tech 9mm.

They have interchangeable grips, at least mine at work does.

Is that the same company as bursa? I'm looking at reviews for them right now

Im not sure I got the .380 from 1 of my customers at a killer price, never heard of them until then. After i got it I read some reviews online and there were some guys that carried them as back ups in vietnam and said they were great guns.

M&P has an adjustable grip

the reason i chose the M&P for my groups gun is because the women in my roup hated the glock grip, but they liked the M&P one

i'd have her give one a try at a gun store
