Millitary IFAK on the cheap
« on: November 03, 2011, 04:38:26 AM »
Haven't posted in awhile. Been busy with the new born but i had to pass this deal along to you guys.

Stumbled across this site while reading about prepping.

http://www.jrhenterprises.com/product.sc?productId=196&categoryId=2

Description

$39.95

IFAK, individual first aid kit. Folding insert pouch is attached by a cord to the carrier pouch. Elastic straps and vented compartment keeps components from falling out. Cordura nylon with MOLLE straps 3 color desert pouch. Closed size 8"x6"X4" Very compact with all essentials for wound management. Contains: 1 Israeli field dressing 4", 2 Pair nitrile gloves, 2 Sterile crinkle cotton, 1 Tourniquet, 1 7 1/2" shears, 1 Lip treatment, 1 Quickclot package, 1 3" self adherent bdg, 1 tape 1" x10 yards. 1 Triangular bandage. Black Vodoo pouch, desert camo no longer available. Plus $8.
shipping

I'd change a few things with it. I'd replace the quickclot with combat gauze, and take out the lip treatment and add 1-2 H and H compressed gauze. Also replace the med tape with duck tape. That would make it almost identical to what we carried in the Stan.  This is a pretty good start for anyone who needs or wants an IFAK though. Check out the rest of the site if you haven't before. They have alot of #10 canned food, a decent Surgical Field Kit, etc.

I dont like those pre-made kits, yourself are already thinking about changing its contents... Besides it mentions "1 tourniquet", the only ones you should carry are the CAT or the SOF-T
I dunno man, at least they should be posting a picture of the contents

yea that is true, i didn't think about that. just thought it was a good start for folks who are looking to have one instead of paying 100 bucks for a decent one. they can work on making it better later. at least they have something. i see what your saying though
