I have no use for this video because i don't own a flintlock nor is it very high on my priority list but it's still a very interesting video and may actually be helpful if any of you were considering getting into this stuff.

Thank you NOLA for posting it.

I have been into Black Powder for quite a long time. My first handgun was a Navy .36. Now I am stricktly a flint kind of guy.

Anybody on this forum who would like to get into Flint Locks or Cap locks. Let me know and I will get you going in the right direction.

if I lived in a world of luxury, I'd be all over this because I think it's really cool and I have an appreciation for old-world things. that being said, I don't live in anything that resembles a world of luxury..

Man O' man you gents are spoiled wimps  :))

There is nothing better then sending a .54 cal round ball down the range and cloverleafing the 10 ring at 100 yards!

For you history buffs:

Under the command of Benidict Arnold, Morgan's Rangers won the day at the battle Saratoga stopping the southern push down the Hudson from Canada. This was done with rifled flint locks fireing effectively at over 200 yards.

At the surrender dinner Burgoyne was reported to have complemented Gates on his riflemen. He thought Morgans Rangers was more affective then an artilery Batalion.

thats cheating though you have time to adjust your stance from the time the trigger is pulled to the time the gun fires... the flinch already came and went. lol

I have one of the fastest locks on my Lancaster and not so fast on my Hawken. Even between the different locks you can see a difference. I also get faster ignition if my powder is to the right of the pan (Right handed lock) then if it has moved to the ignition hole.

Firing off hand, I do a figure 8 with the sights and the bulls eye. I start my trigger squeeze as I come up or go down towards the bulls eye. By the time the rifle fires my sights are dead on!
