fired my rifle for the first time today
« on: October 23, 2011, 07:23:43 PM »
everything went great sight in, cycling ect. BUT i think my gun is over gassed, the brass ejected forward above the 3oclock  position alot, not always, it hit the brass deflector several times. so im going to buy a heavier buffer and if that doesnt solve it ill be back lol.

now im going to wipe all the nasty out of it.

A lot of people seem to have issues with their weapons being over gassed. I've always liked it. I mean hell at least you KNOW for a fact that round is going away from the rifle and yourself.

Just my opinion.

I don't personally subscribe to the ejection-pattern crowd. While yes, when diagnosing a problem it's one of many tools but if you aren't experiencing malfunctions I'd just call it mental masturbation.

I do however, recommend running the heaviest buffer combo the gun runs reliably on as mentioned in the OP. Some find that a lighter buffer might have to be used when using cheap-shit Russian ammo, others not. The trick is to just go out and shoot with multiple setups.

roger. what are some of the other tools you use to see if its an over gassing problem? because it ran flawlessly today.

What, 'problem'? Running flawlessly? You aren't experiencing any problems...

Run the heaviest buffer system as it will take (to increase longevity of parts) and go on.

I have to agree, AR's are  System that you need to test out, But runing the Most Stiff Buffer and spring makes sense to me! I wish AR had Gas Adjust like FAL but one can't have everything? Maybe in time someone will do that?
