combat 45 ???

Ok guy my community is now on the 45 acp standard.

What kind of 45 would you carry if that was the sidearm round you had to carry. My vote is for FN FNP 45 tactical... 3 15 rnd mags and a threaded barrel for those of us that live in a free state and can get a suppressor. Yes its 1k but for the amount you are gonna put into a combat 45 I feel its well worth it

i don't think a change in caliber would effect my choice of sidearm. I still like Glock, and I'm quickly warming up to 1911's but that single-stack shit just don't cut it for me, so my vote is for G21 gen3.

The only reason I can't agree with you is they have a hard time with a suppressor.

The H & K take up way too much real estate for my tastes.  They are fine pistols, but make mine a singe-stack.  I sold my Ruger that served me well for 9 years and bought a Sig P220.  The P220 is the "darth vader" of handguns.  It's just all business.

can't say it's my first love, but that's the same gripe that I have. I've recently grown very fond of and familiar with the design but the low mag capacity is what permanently excludes it from possible "SHTF" sidearms for me.

compared to my 1911, my Glock feels like a fucking musket (as far as accuracy is concerned), but mag capacity prevails (for me) at the end of the day.

I love my Kimber 1911. The stocks with a single stack mag fits my hand better then the double stack .45ACP ones.

Keep in mind that the weapon is really 8+1 or 9 rounds if replace your racked round in the mag. I especially like the grip safety on 1911's. I CC my Kimber everywhere and due to it's slim design imprints less then my Ruger SP 101 wheel gun.

The only thing negataive that I have to say it is heavy. No big deal as I started wearing suspenders back in 2006 but it is noticable.

I have not tried the Sig P220 but have heard great reviews; however, it is a single stack too.

Bottom-line: Buy quality as your life will depend on it.

well the 1911 shoot i went to there was 3 ria 1911's
2 failed pretty bad, the other 1 had 2 dud rounds not the guns fault

My standard thought is that is your going to shoot .45 acp, then 1911 is the clear platform. Shooting a .45 acp Sig or Glock or whatever, just seems wrong to me.

let me just clarify something here. I think I tend to rattle things off and don't explain the entirety of my thoughts.

my 1911 has in recent months become my EDC. I love it, and I'm more than comfortable with it's 8-rd capacity on a normal peacetime basis. IMO it's more than enough for some dumb mugger or gas-station robber. I just don't want to be limited to so few rounds if we're talking about a full-collapse WROL situation. I'll gladly sacrifice pinpoint accuracy for mag capacity in that environment.

one other gripe I have is with the magazines themselves. double stack mags are inherently easier to reload quickly because they taper towards the top. single stack mags are straight with no taper. IMO this taper of double stack mags makes fast reloads EXTREMELY easy and almost effortless in comparison with the struggle of trying to hit your mark with a slim single stack mag. but alas, most of you guys have years more experience than I do so maybe that skill will come with time. I know I've practiced my ass off with my 1911 and I still can't slam those mags the way I can with my Glock.

anyway, i just didn't want anyone to think I'm hating on 1911. no one can argue it's worth. it's got a hundred years of evidence to defend itself with.
