It would seem that by looking at the map, everybody who lives within 50 miles of the coast is insane. I could be wrong but the map supports my conclusion.

@pkveazey, not the coasts - most large cities cluster on the coasts.  I would say that people in large cities went for H.C.  I can't explain the Alabama & Mississippi river areas, though.
