Hmmm... and they never stop to think why they're labeled "deplorable" "racist" "sexist".  Sounds like they'd rather have someone tell them they're alright and everyone else is just mean instead of having to honestly examine their behavior and beliefs, and then possibly change that behavior and those beliefs to behave in a socially acceptable manner.

Wellie, do you consider me a "clinger" or "deploarable?" Yet although I am NOT a Trump supporter I do agree on most of his platform. Here are some things I agree with him on:

> I am against abortion up to minutes from birth,
> Whether using a physical or virtual wall, I do believe sealing the borders,
   - I do believe on deporting anybody here illegally,
> I think that the Afordable Care Act needs to be repealed and replaced,
> I am a stanch supporter of ALL of the origional 10 Amendments to the Bill of Rights,
> I believe SCOTUS needs to decide on motions before it, if something is Constitutional not make law,
> I think that Mrs. Clinton is in "it" to enrich herself and to do so she lies,
> I believe until a immigrant, from France, Syria, Russia, China, etc can be 100% vetted they should be denied
    any entry to this country as a immigrant,
> Et cetera.

Me, I like the message, I just do not like the messenger. 

So back to my original question: Wellie, "do you consider me a "clinger" or "deploarable?" And if so "why?"

I hope that all folks here can understand my questions. It is not in the spirit Unchainedpreppers.com to broad brush a large section of American citizens whether they be Clinton, Johnson, Stein or Trump supporters.

Just think out load a bit here.

Finding the current landscape devolving to over simplistic labels can make a person loose faith sometimes.

I am not a label.

I am so very much more complex.

I am a person that has seen the worst in the world and still believes in the good a person can do for another.

I prep because I know that in this existence, bad things happen.

I prep because it is in our human heritage to do this. The current crop in western societies have forgotten this due to the recent existences of splendor.

I must keep the faith that contrary to belief, the average human when given the option of taking an evil path or a path that helps others will choose the light.

I may be an idealist, yet I have seen how that the one human that chooses to be good is worth multitudes of those that choose the dark.


Have faith all. History repeats. Yes we are possibly heading into dark times. Yet we as a human race have been there before.

JM - no, I don't think of you as a bad person or a clinger, etc.  But there are legitimate reasons that many Trump supporters and Republicans in general are considered racist, sexist, etc. 

While you're against late-term abortion (which I won't get into the arguments about it here), most are against any abortion, which I see as my right whether or not I personally would ever do it.  Some are against birth control - and refuse to provide their employees birth control in their insurance.  That's a direct threat to my well-being and health and is demonstrably sexist.  They want to defund Planned Parenthood - and I know from personal experience how crucial PP is.  When I was temping in my 20s because I couldn't find a permanent job with insurance, PP gave me health care and affordable birth control.  I know many, many other women who've been able to stay healthy because of PP and the Right's insistence that they get rid of PP is a danger to women's health.

Then there's the racism issue - most of the rhetoric about the blasted wall (which, let's admit is a stupid idea due to size and ease of circumvention) is vilely racist.  The people complaining about "Mexicans" (despite the fact that illegal aliens come from multiple countries across South and Central America, but most of the people spewing venom don't bother to understand the distinctions) taking their jobs have no problem paying only a couple dollars for a package of strawberries or blueberries.  Illegal aliens make up a large percentage of our agricultural workforce - and you certainly don't see Americans willing to work for the wages that they will. 

Then you have the blatantly racist and religionist (I know it's not a word, but go with me here) anti-Muslim hatred.  Yes, some of the terrorists who attacked us were Muslim, but we've also been attacked by Christian terrorists.  The religion of the people who commited the Aurora shootings, the Sikh massacre, the TN Valley UU Church massacre, etc. wasn't broadcast everywhere because they were Christians.  So people who may look Arabic get treated like crap and are suspected of terrible actions and intentions.

These are just a few examples.  Since we're having to talk in generalities about large groups of people we have to look at the majority of the rhetoric and actions of the Right, of Trump supporters, and Republicans.  The majority of their platforms and talk support the concern that these are racists, sexist, etc.

Racism is affirmative action, racism is set-asides, racism is calling someone a racist who wants to vet Muslims coming into this country when they know damn well the terrorists are Muslims (not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims with only ONE exception Timothy McVeigh). Racism is calling someone a racist who wants to keep out the drugs, drug dealers, murderers and rapist and accusing them of wanting to halt immigration. 
Sexism is voting for a woman for president just because she is a woman.
