RotoTiller Broken
« on: May 12, 2022, 09:04:14 AM »
I spread 12-yards of seasoned cow manure on my garden yesterday. I was starting to rototill the manure in when a felt/herd something whip past my right ear followed by a horrible noise. Turned the PTO off and turned around to see this,

Well I have an email into a company that handles Howard Tillers looking for a new housing. Luckily, the gears are intact, I just need the housing.

I also started looking for a used 48" rototiller but alas, there are none within a 200-mile drive of the redoubt, even a auction house. Do me a favor and keep an eye out for a 48 or 60-inch category 1 or 2, 3 point hitch for old Johnymac. Thanks,

Sorry to see the housing break like that.  I wonder why it broke, seeing the gears appear to be intact.  I've been looking for a 48" tiller too, but they're expensive.  Tractor Supply carries 3 point hitch tillers, but the cheapest is about $2200.

I have a neighbor who tills our primary garden, then I redo it with a small electric rototiller a few weeks later (this weekend in my case).  I'm not looking forward to it as it's warmed up significantly this week.  Anyways, our little electric tiller ran about $120 on Amazon.  That might be a temporary, fill-in solution until you either fix your Howard tiller or find a replacement.  I have a old-fashioned wheel hoe I could send up, if you want some exercise!

Thanks Jackalope.

I have a 18" gas powered walk behind rear tine rototiller that I will eventually end up using. I loaned it to my neighbor so in theory, I will get it back eventually, ha ha ha.

Karen wants me to buy a new one as she is getting tired of all my old, used, abused equipment is breaking down. This is one I am looking at,

Oh well, there is always something happening at the redoubt.

That Phoenix T4 looks very nice.  It certainly looks rugged enough.  Didn't find any reviews on-line about it, except on the everythingattachments website.

On the hard work and no fuel making of a well tilled garden, nothing beats a BROADFORK:

No, it's not as quick as a tractor with tiller, but it's a great tool and REAL grub hoe for detail working of packed soil makes a difference.  Also, axes for wood processing, should the chain saw not be the answer.  Think of the money we'd all save, not having to go to the gym...

Broken Everything -  An article when the "usual suspects" invested in artificial replacement research for breast milk.   What a coincidence that now the public is faced with a shortage of the usual formula replacement?      OK, so below is a link (containing more links) to discussion of were the formula problem began.
The 3-month shutdown of a major baby formula supplier by the FDA looks like a bogus witch-hunt - that certainly put a dent in USA stocks of formula in the supply chain.    Blame Trump, Russia, Ukraine, "the supply chain" in that order?     Or just add more stress to American lives and who cares who the MSM fingers...?    Just so long as it keeps everyone distracted, fearful, and looking in the wrong direction.

If this isn't more evidence of a coordinated attack on us then I don't know what is.
