China - Panic Food Buying As Winter Bears Down
« on: November 06, 2021, 09:45:20 AM »
It appears that the CCP has told its citizens to stock up on food and other supplies as winter looms.

"Central planners are at it again. In September, China ordered the country's top state-owned energy companies to secure supplies for this winter at "all costs." Now they're telling households to stockpile food ahead of winter, sparking wild conspiracies among netizens about heightening tensions with Taiwan.

According to Bloomberg, the Ministry of Commerce told households Monday to stock up on food in case of emergencies after a resurgence of the virus pandemic, heavy rains that sparked vegetable prices to jump, and the onset of colder weather.

The commerce ministry directive is similar to the one released ahead of the holidays at the start of October, which told local governments to secure food supplies. The order comes as a coronavirus outbreak prompted fresh lockdowns."
- Zero Hedge

Are these warning's a precursor of war? Additional pandemic lockdowns? Poor food production and minimal imports from the USA and other food producing countries? Other?

Who knows however, I wonder if Americans are stocking up. I know UP readers are.

Much of our food, industrial materials and now energy is bought on international markets.  When the dollar was THE most desired currency, we could easily out bid our competitors for these critical resources. With every passing day of our decay , our buying power and international credit rating decreases, making OTHER countries more able to out bid us..

Many moons ago there was a member of the Unchainedpreppers community called 1000 meter stare. He worked in North Dakota in the grain harvesting field. Specifically, he worked for a grain collecting company.

During harvesting season, visiting workers from South Africa would come in and run grain harvesting machinery and trucks that ran to the grain elevators scattered along the railroad lines.

He told me that somewhere in the neighborhood of 60% was shipped to ports in Portland, OR. and Seattle, WA. From those ports the assorted grains were put on ships and sent to China. Interesting huh?

Now lets look at pork. Are you aware that Smithfield was bought by China WH Group in 2013? China's WH Group does not share with the public how much pork they export to China however, the last number released back in February 2020 they exported 38.8-million pounds of pork between June and September 2019. This equates to roughly to 168,701 pigs within 3-months.

Pigs like other protein is sent in freezer containers on of course container ships. Now with hundreds of container ships sitting in harbors around the USA waiting to be offloaded, you can see what the Chinese people are facing going into 2022 when it comes to food... Or, lack there of.

Hungry people do drastic things. In China's case, drastic authoritative governments do drastic things.
