OK I'm not a radio guy like the rest of you but here are my .02

Codes and whatnot for the fancy rigs is cool but there are too many idiots in the mix of people and codes will be forgotten or easily given up during interrogation plus they may be trackable in some form of triangulation or something....

The simple walmart radios are easy to use, easy to understand and as far as I know they cannot be "found" because the signals are so common and weak.

Most importantly, in my eyes, these protest are designed to test the defenses of the police (or whoever) and perfect the aggressive actions of their main force(s) so comms are not that important. The leaders want to be able to send in multiple groups with each group having an task independent of the other groups, to create the most chaos.

What are your thoughts??

Jackalope, great to read you are safe!

Man o'man you certainly receive some serious weather. We get tornadoes too but a bit south of us in the Scranton/Wilkes Barre area. Nothing this far north.

six inches+ of rain...WOW!

Thx for the AAR.

General Discussion / Wild Weather...Again!
« Last post by Jackalope on Today at 06:58:34 PM »
Yesterday and last night was pretty wild here in middle Tennessee.  We had a number of systems come through.  How many?  I have no idea!  It just seemed like a continuous bout of storms.  We had multiple thunderstorms during the day, but the fun came after sunset.  I was watching the hazardous weather approach on radar, and listening to a weather net on the local 2 meter repeater.  As the mass of storms came, there was almost continuous lightning, it was quite impressive.  Then the weather radio squawked again, warning of an approaching tornado, and then my cellphone and my stepson's cellphone activated with a tornado warning message.

We quickly retreated to the basement with our dogs and waited.  I had already pre-staged leashes, my bugout bag, a raincoat, and a lantern.  We had to exit the house to go down in the basement.  The thunder was horrendous, and the rain was truly a deluge.  The dogs behaved well under unusual circumstances.  After about 45 minutes, that particular system finally passed through.  In about an hours time we got over 6 inches of rain.  My rain gauge only goes up to six inches, and it was overflowing.  We were fortunate.  We never lost power, though many in the area did.  Amazingly, this wasn't the end of the storms.  More storms formed within an hour, and we had thunder and lightning until dawn.  Tornadoes suck when they occur at night...

Today, we have blue sky, cooler temperatures and a brisk breeze.  There's no question that some sort of a storm shelter is a necessity here, whether a basement or a formal shelter.  I believe this is the fourth or fifth time we've had to seek shelter over the past five years.  It adds a little spice to life and makes you appreciate the fair weather days.  As far as damage, my driveway was washed out a bit, but the damage was relatively minor.  All in all, it was an interesting day and night!  I'm sure I'll sleep better tonight!

Or they could just acquire some Chinese or Japanese portables that have digital modes, i.e., DMR, DSTAR, or Yaesu System Fusion.  It would give them some privacy, just by the virtue of being a digital signal.  The Empire would certainly figure it out, but it might take some time, and by then the event would be over.

Or better yet, get some of the TYT radios, certain models do have an encryption capability.  It would give the signals intelligence workers something to do... our tax dollars at work!

Gee, whatever happened to the leftists/media screaming "Believe all women.".  Oh, I forgot, that was political theatre for the leftist agenda, not for some moral principle.

Radio / Pro-Hamas Protesters Now Using GMRS For Comms
« Last post by JohnyMac on Today at 12:30:21 PM »
I heard on the TV the other day that many of the Pro-Hamas protesters are using GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) for comms during the protests instead of cell phones. Yes the radios you can pick up for $10- a pair at Walmart.

I applaud them for thinking out of the box but they are worse than using a cell phone as there are only maybe 20+ pre selected channels which can easily be monitored by police and without a Brevity Code is like an old time party line.

To this day, I am surprised that someone in Antifa or BurnLootMurder Inc, have not picked up some BaoFeng's and use a pre selected frequency WITH a privacy code (s) that change frequency (maybe every 30-minutes or so) along with a Brevity code. To have relatively secure comms.

Add to that, a BaoFeng > Tablet > OTP code for specific cells within the protest and you have 100% secure comms.

If I was running a protest, I would have X cells within the protest. Communication between the cell leader & TOC and TOC & cell leader would be via BaoFeng > Tablet > OTP. Then within the cell comms would be between BaoFeng's via voice who's frequency and security code changed hourly to a predetermined frequency/code and use an individual cell centric Brevity code.

Easy peasy Japanesey.

For you folks who think I shouldn't of posted this, I would suggest, do not underestimate your enemy. I am sure to a degree, this is being done. This is complicated for sure and may not be for the newbie protester; However, each protest is a training exercise. With running exercises competence is gained.

Just as a side note, I am using the Session app right now for secure short messages. Probably the most secure out there right now.

For email, I use Tutanota. Tutanota to Tutanota user, it is 100% secure and encrypted. For Tutanota to user without a Tutanota account, the non-Tutanota can open the msg with a predetermined and agreed on password. Boy o' boy, that was a mouthful.

Rule number one, unless you use a OTP encryption it ain't encrypted no matter what encrypted app you use. The only thing you are doing is making more work for "them". Which I am happy to do no-matter how time consuming it is.

Tara Reade a former employee of Senator Joe Biden who made the claim she was raped by him is under under secret indictment by the DOJ. She is holding up in Russia who does not have an extradition agreement with Russia to avoid the FBI and potential arrest.

It is up to you and I to spread her story in order to put pressure on the DOJ to give her a fair hearing in the course of public opinion.

Here is the 22-minute video. If you think what is happening to Reade is awful, please share it.

I use Proton for the simple premise of not having Yahoo and etc. scour my e-mail content and send me SPAM on my account.  If only my recovery e-mail has been compromised, I really don't see that as a major problem because to me, it's little more than a throw away address.  As for anything on line being "SECURE" , it is not.
