VIRGINIA on the Chesapeake Bay
48F, moderate rain. Slow, onshore winds bearing warmer, wet air of the Gulf Stream, meeting the colder air from the West : result rain. Zero snow here.  ❄️   I am completely out of Scotch!!!

Yes, we got nothing.  You're getting snow and cold.  Condolences.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

God created Man, Col. Sam Colt made him equal, John Moses Browning turned equality to perfection, Gaston Glock turned perfection into plastic fantastic junk.

What is this "snow" of which you speak?  Seriously though, I haven't shoveled snow in 20 years.  I hope you make out okay.  I have confidence in you.

I'm from Idaho, so what is called "winter" here in The South confuses me.

Sir John.... That's funny as Hell. I've been to most every State east of the Mississippi. OK, I actually did cross over into Arkansas once. Montana and Idaho are 2 States that I have no desire to go to. Hell, you might as well go live in Alaska. Virginia and North Carolina are the most temperate States on the east coast. I even remember a Christmas day back in the 1950's when my cousin got a speed boat for Christmas and he lived next to a large creek and we all piled into his new boat and zipped up and down that creek all afternoon because it happened to be just about 80 degrees and sunny. Damn, that was fun. Here's something that I've noticed: Chicago, in Winter it snows every afternoon between 4 and 6 PM about 1 to 2 inches. Orlando, in Summer it's too hot for humans to survive and it rains everyday between 4 and 6 PM. Also, they don't call Atlanta, "Hotlanta" for no reason. Aw Hell, let's not leave out Mississippi, the Veit Nam of the South. 80 degrees outside and when you walk outside thinking it's going to be beautiful, you get hit in the face with a blast of hottest, most humid air on planet earth. Hmmmmm..... "Carry Me Back To Old Virginy"

When I first arrived in Maryland from Idaho for a new job I was hired for,  my coworkers were scurrying from their cars to the side door of the company, coats pulled up around their necks. I had low boots, jeans and a shirt on, walking calmly.  My good friend, Virginian through and through told me "c'mon Brother, let's hurry. Ain't you FREEZING out here!?!?!".  Naturally, to me, it was like springtime in the mountains I just came from.  "C'mon, Lee, it's about 50 out here." (it was windy...).  "Right, 50 is freezing here".  "Brother, not 6 months ago I was working up on the mountain side in temps 85 degrees lower that this and it was all in a day's work.

Pause ---

That's CRAZY !  That would be 35 degrees BELOW ZERO!   he said.
"Right" , I responded.

Now that I am an adopted Virginian, I have adapted and work very hard not to snicker as the temps drop below 'freezing' which is to say 50 degrees Fahrenheit, south of the Mason-Dixon line.

My internet is back up. To answer your question Jackalope...Yes.

We received just short of 6". Some folks received 11". No big deal. I am the ARES Emergency Coordinator/SKYWARN dude for the region. I used UP as a depository for the SOI.

Thanks for asking.

WOW!!! During the Tuesday night ERIN Net, I reported that the huge rainstorm had caused water to come onto my road where it passes through a creek/swamp area. Hmmmm.... Today VDOT had put up signs closing my road due to massive flooding at the creek/swamp area. Fortunately, I can go north about a mile and then turn left and go about another mile to get to the main highway. The wife and I had to go to Stony Creek today and they closed 2 streets there also due to flooding. I figured the water was about at its zenith, but I hear that it's going to go higher.

OhNo!!! Just as the water started to go down and VDOT removed the High Water signs, another huge rainstorm has just begun. I guess the road will be flooded again tomorrow and I'll have to do the "Go around" thingy again. :faint:
