Well, at 9 pm tonight I started loading Windows 7 into my "Radio Computer". My IC 7300 won't recognize Windows XP. Well its 3:30 am and I got the new operating system up and running but I use Ham Radio Deluxe and it doesn't have the 7300 on the list of ICOMS. So, for the time being, I'll have to be content with just copying digital instead of RX/TX. I have all sorts of programs and File Documents on stick drives and now I have to decide what crap I'm going to load and what crap I'm not going to load. I made a lot of progress but it sure doesn't feel like progress. :faint:

PKv, being able to TX/RX with digital was one of the most frustrating things that I ever accomplished. The key word here is accomplished. The reason being is that for the most part I accomplished it all by my lonesome. This is why when people need digital help, I offer my services willingly and often.

If ya' need any help - I am no expert mind you - drop a dime and I will at least be come one you can complain to.  :cheers:

PK, are you using the current version of HRD?  The current version of HRD certainly has the IC-7300, because it's in use at my station.  The current version of HRD does cost approximately $100.00, but they do have occasional sales.  They are up to version 6.7.0.357.  It's available at https://www.hamradiodeluxe.com/  The current version is a quantum leap from the old, free version that's available on-line.  The current version is a much more integrated suite of programs, that works well.  The company has multiple actual programmers, and they do beta testing to eliminate software bugs.

Jackalope, I have the old free version and when I saw the $100 price tag I went into cardiac arrest because I'm a cheap SOB. The DM 780 part works just fine but I just can't talk back to the radio. I've got a few Ham buddies that probably have a newer version and since my "Radio Computer" isn't connected to the internet I might be able to figure something out. I'll keep y'all posted.
