PDF Files?
« on: August 29, 2014, 08:46:31 AM »
New here and I was wondering if there is a place on the forum to upload PDF files that people can download.  I am not a super tech  and don't know if this is even possible. I have around 2,000 of them saved. Most are ebooks on every survival and self reliant topic I can think of. Would be nice to be able to share these.

Hosting pdf files could create legal issues due copyright.
But if your documents are free, you can use box.com or dropbox.com, upload the files there and just let us know where they are so we can take a look at them ;)

As apx said, there may be some legal issues there unless they're specifically free to use publications but I love the sound of what you're doing there. I'm somewhat of a hoarder when it comes to information. I'm on about 300 pdfs now on the same type of material. Most of which I haven't and never plan to read but mostly for "just in case". Essentially I keep what I believe may be useful in the unlikely event of a COMPLETE collapse.

Yep, I see your points.  The law is usually the last thing I think about   Most of mine are "just in case" also. Everything from lockpicking & tying knots to growing tomatoes. I would like to get a portable device that could be charged with a solar charger to store all my info stuff on.

Check out the Doogee Titan S. It's a rugged, android based smart phone with a nice big display. I keep all my info (multiple copies of each) on micro sd cards that I can just pop into my phone. I'm currently using the Samsung galaxy xcover 2 and it has survived everything that I've thrown at it so far.

A kindle is awesome, you can read it under the sun just like normal paper, at the night with the backlight and recharge it with any USB connector, that can be used with an adapter in any car or solar power installation.

We should have a prep tech topic, I'd love to compare and complain about my purchases.
