all of us are always prowling the internet for deals. but these are uncertain times. times when yesterdays ripoff is today's killer deal. times when you're lucky to even get your hands on what you want at all, much less get a "good deal" on it.

I'm only posting this for one purpose.. to give my experience in the past week or so.

so, internet = no-go when it comes to black rifles, and anything related to them. all the popular sites are backlogged into oblivion.

lucky for me, I usually shop at the retail level anyway. I used to do it because i didn't have a bank account, thus no card, thus no online shopping. now i have a card, but the market is all crazy. so I've gone back to the retail level like i used to shop.

I've found that the big-box sporting goods stores are all wiped out of anything related to "assault rifles". (to be expected)

but one little surprise that I found was that some of the smaller shops are actually still carrying some product, and IN MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, the price was not inflated. I just picked up a few hundred .224" bullets off the shelf of a store in my area, and a couple days ago I even managed to get my hands on a 30rd G22 mag from a gun shop and the price was the same as it was before all this craziness.

my only point is: the internet is great and all, but in times like these, maybe spending a few extra bucks at the retail level is worth it. get the shit you need before it's completely gone.

yes, I spent X dollars on 300 bullets, when i used to be able to get them for Xminus50, but i still got the damn bullets. get your shit before you can't get it.

I have been spending much more of my money locally as well.  This not only helps the business stay open, it helps you build business, social relationships as well as sometimes opens the possibility for better deals for you.  By local now cause thats who has always been here and will always be here.

Sadly there aren't any local mom and pop stores around here that sell reloading supplies, so I have to deal with Bass Pro.  At least it helps keep locals employed.  I do however use a local FFL for new firearm purchases.
