Thoughts On This Type Tool

   Looks like an urban millennial's choice of tool.  Multi-tools can be useful, but they're always a compromise.  Over the years, I've found that I'm better off using the proper tool for whatever job that I'm doing.

   To be honest, that "tool" looks like something that I'd find in my wife's utility closet before we got married.

Im a strong believer in multi-tools.  I have a Gerber within arms reach about anytime I am outside of my home.

Im thinking of a belt carry type woods wandering thing.  Seems rather light duty and mostly unnecessary.

I found something similar on the beach and it was rusted beyond use. It had a lot of tools but I couldn't see how any of them could be useful because of poor quality and size

I'm a multi-tool guy. I keep one in my cargo pants pocket at all times. Mine is not a Swiss Army Knife type of thing. It has a Hammer & Claw, Pliers w/wire cutter, File w/Serrated edge cutting blade, 2 Flat head screw drivers(Big &small), Phillips head screw driver, Can opener/Bottle opener, Pocket knife blade.

It has come in real handy a number of times when I needed a small tool and didn't want to go digging through the car trunk looking for tools. I have used the Hammer and the Pliers more than any of the other features.

The quality is pretty good. It says "Sheffield" on it and it doesn't say CHINA anywhere on it so I'm guessing its from Sheffield England. The whole thing is Stainless Steel except for the wood side plates. As best I recall, I paid somewhere between $15 and $20 for it.

Now for the kicker. I also have one of those steel credit card size muti-tool things in my Fanny Pack.

The only one's I've ever handled were the definition of cheap, so I've never had the desire to try to find a good one. I'm sure they exist, somewhere. My multitool is Leatherman, for anything else I get a  purpose built tool.
