opinion on micro rig
« on: April 30, 2012, 06:17:32 AM »
http://originalsoegear.com/stacked.html

I'm looking at a micro rig for the house and truck. Something small, lightweight, for a pistol, 3 magazines, ifak,  flashlight and commo.

The use would be a lightweight kit to grab when things go bump in the night, day trips out in the boonies, and as a a general quick response kit for emergencies. Ideally it would be slim enough to throw a hoodie or jacket over and show as bulk but keep from being overt.

I have go to war kit, but find that I don't end up either wearing it or grabbing it when I need something quick. I normally grab my flashlight and a pistol, my glasses and my cell phone.

I am looking for something in a cross draw, so either a pals panel with the option to upgrade or prebuilt either kydex or cloth with kydex insert.

I'd like your opinions on this concept.

I love the idea. I am continually reminding guys that they don't need 8-12 mags. They need a well thoughout kit that is super lightweight and the fitness to move move move!

I like the idea. if the price is right then it's probably something to jump on. it could also serve you well in terms of the whole "gray-man" thing. if you need to venture out into the WROL world but don't want to go full retard, something like that little micro rig could be just the ticket.

I've seen your little rig, the problem I have is not finding the configuration I like as far as load out.

What I'm about to suggest might not suit your mission, however, having been in the same situation your are in now I figured it may or may not be a help to you. I would recommend  the condor EDC bag. It may not be as "covert" as your looking for, but then again we aren't in the the Al Anbar province either. Ive been using the bag for about 3 mos. and have found that its not as conspicuous as you would think at first glance. I equate it to being a man purse.  ;) Most people don't even notice it outside the occasional glance and I would say mines on the more "overt" side.  Its easy to ditch and don which makes for easy vehicle mount/dismounting. I usually have it slung across my back but I took some photos of it on my side to give you an idea of the profile. If I find myself in the orange, I'll bring it around to my front and unzip the gun pouch. Ive got a small trauma and survival kit along with other EDC items like cell phone, wallet, etc... Anyhow, I hope it helps, if not, suffer in silence and Good Luck!

i think im gona pick up a stacked micro. has molle on the pouches for more mission essential stuffs. i dig the idea of a fast small loadout.

now if i had time to dawn my full kit, i sure as shit would. i wouldnt want just 5 mags in a gun fight.

This thread has a similar vein, something easy to grab and go.

The SOE rig seems really expensive for what it is, at least to me. Maybe I'm missing something though?

I've got a extra .308 micro in MC I'd part with. Used once, has padded H-harness.
