Anybody know where I can pick up an AK barrel already drilled/ported without getting screwed over on shipping?

Moving along on the ak again??? (this is gapatriot by the way) Just pick one up that had the extractor cut done drilling the gas port is super easy. Once its in the front trunnion just press on the other bits line them up drill the pin holes and pin them in place. I weld mine in place probably not the best method but it hasnt been a problem. Then the last part is drilling the gas port. Ak builder sales all the drill bits you need I cant remember the sizes. www.ak-builder.com they have a service to install everything for you. and copes distributing used to have non-chrome lined barrels for like 60 bucks. I think apex gun parts has some romanian chrome lined barrels for around 100.

Oh yeah, another random thought.  Will my 6 ton shop press do everything I need it to do?  Or am I going to have to step up to a 12 ton?

Don't skimp on a head space gauge. Get at least a no go gauge and check it what a live round. Do you have the fixture to hold the trunnion inside of the receiver to place on the press? If not, just another think to think about. You should be able to get away with using a 6 ton press. I have used the screw rod method and that has worked for me. For the pins that holds the barrel in the trunnion, the rear and front sight block and the gas block, you will need a 7 mm, 4 mm, and a 3 mm drill bit.
