EMP prof ammo can
« on: February 14, 2012, 01:36:48 AM »
Finally got around to making my totally overkill EMP prof box. What do you guys think?

I took some cardboard that was decently thick and cut each one to fit perfectly inside the can. Didn't get any good pictures of these steps but this is after I finished cutting all the pieces, duck taping them together and then wrapping it in aluminum foil.

I taped all the corners so it wouldn't rip when sliding it into the can, mine was a super tight fit.

I left a little foil to then wrap it in the inside and tape it.

Then shove that sucker into the can carefully so you dont tear any of the foil.

And now the finished product. All it needs is some paint.

Haha took you a minute but you pulled through.

I threw my phone in it before I did any of this and it never rang but I want to give myself the best chance so I hopefully made it overkill so I can throw my electronics in and be sure they will be safe.

Dude  [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at Isn't that a bit overkill for just storing your flesh light?

Seems like a waste of an ammo can to me.

Cool Gunner, thx for sharing.

A question comes to mind: How can we tell if our EMP proofing is working? Put a cell phone in "the EMP container" and try to call it? Thoughts???

Thanks for the info GUNNER!  [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

An ammo can is small but plenty can fit in there. Walkies, portable ham radios, USB card.

Sure a USB card might be pointless but then againif you do come across a working laptop or something than all your saved files can be accessed.

In my experience the ammo can blocks the cell signal anyways. Though I usually don't get the best reception in my area so the foil probably aids it a little. Though the foil itself doesn't block shit.

What the hell am I to do if I lose my flesh light!? Must not lose flesh light at all cost!

Seems like a waste of an ammo can to me.

I have plenty and work in a gun store that has more than enough so it was a good decision to me.

No problem man, I just hope it works.

I'm not sure if there is a real way to test it, but I remember reading somewhere or hearing from somebody that the best test is to throw your phone in and give it a ring. Mine never rang from the beginning but I figured I would go one step farther.

Thanks for the info GUNNER!

Any time dude.

I am going to then throw my stuff in a ziplock bag and then put it in the can.
