A lot of folks will look at the map concept and go ?You need topo maps?, ?you need this?, and ?you need that?. Maybe, I dunno. I do know what works when your audience is completely ignorant to concepts like ?Resection?, ?Grid North?, ?Polar Coordinates?, and ?UTM?. The concept of this blog is geared towards the rural rancher, farmer, homesteader, and folks that live in the country and have things to do besides conducting deep raids or outsmarting drones. Not the ?commando? types ? they?ve got their FMs and buddies to train with for that stand @ Lexington Green. To try and ingrain those concepts on rural folks that have a billion other personal worries going on when SHTF would be pretty unrealistic. Like I said before ? when all is said and done Bill is still trying to run his ranch and establishing an anti-armor ambush is probably the last thing on his mind....
Don?t be some self righteous asshole know everything Ranger fucking Ricky. You will do nothing but alienate people ? they don?t identify with terms like ?recon patrol? and ?hasty ambush? and ?resection?. Play it humble and spoon feed it at the simplest level. When all is said and done these folks are still farmers, ranchers, and homesteaders ? not members of the BSB LRS.
Also thought this piece was probably the best one I've read on the subject....Building Tribe: Understanding Tribal PoliticsQuoteDon?t be some self righteous asshole know everything Ranger fucking Ricky. Didn't mean to hi-jack your thread.
Good blog. good information. TY for the share.
Glad you guys like the blog - I usually hit a new entry at least daily. If there's anything specific you want to see let me know.

A lot of the places you go on the web feel like you are sitting down with someone's Grandfather rather than someone in your peer group. Keep up the good work and I am sure you will continue to get hit off this forum.
I just try and keep it simple. I've read a ton of blogs and forums for the last couple of years and no one seemed to tackle the question about rural folks and WTF do they do when SHTF. Not everyone has the millions JWR has to setup an enclave in Montana or Utah. I also would like to urge you guys to read through a fiction blog I came across that has a lot of pertinent situations and actually was a large part of my inspiration for cranking mine up. The Union Creek Journal is one of the better story lines I've come across in ages - as good as some of the hardbound fiction I've read like Defiance or one second after. Here's a page where the story is laid out form start to the most recent entry.http://unioncreekjournal.wordpress.com/the-union-creek-jounral-entries-in-chronological-order/And like I said, if you guys want to see something particular lemme know.
