Train Like you Fight.
« on: August 27, 2011, 09:40:29 PM »
Alright, so ever since my Deployment 7 months ago when I was in awesome shape. I haven't been doing anything really to do with Physical Training.
Though I will admit I have done quite a bit of Firearms drills.

So I started to work out about a week ago. And how I'm doing it is more of a Patriot/ARM members type of training.
Granted Still do Push ups, Sit ups, Pullups. I like to ruck march.

In my opinion Rucking is one of the best things you can do to train your self. I mean think about it. How often are you going to be getting from place to place with your BOV? Now think about how often your probably going to have to walk.

So I went ahead and threw 9 gallons of water in my Ruck filled up my camel back through on my LBV and went for a march.  I would like to hear your training Training regiment's and why you think they will keep you fit for a possible up coming WROL situation.

P90x all the way..it works for me!
I train realistic as possible. I have my b.o.b which is my large field pack.
I mean if thats what im gona strike out with, then thats what i train with!
i started on a one,24 hour camp/hike through the woods...then a 2 day trek and so on...
I'm on 4 days with full pack, weapon, ammo,my utg vest and ive learned that its not easy!!
I got news for anyone that sits around, buys the gear, preps their little hearts,DOES NOT train or work out and thinks their just gona gear up n go for an extended amount of time??
REALITY CHECK! It aint gona happen!
You have to be in shape to lug that weight for DAYS!
Only way to do it,IS get out and DO IT! when tshtf, there will be no going back to the couch and resting!
If you cant lug your gear, your dead! The ppl that are counting on you? Probably DEAD!
So try your best to get out and train with your bug out gear..
it teaches you alot about yourself real quick!

When I first started my regiment, I was really thinking. " man, I really need my rifle. " but unfortunately I cannot train with my rifle around here. Or I would.

Im not supposed to be either, but my house is right on the edge of the woods so i get lucky. But i started out with evrrything but my rifle and i got brave one trip and brought it with me...man,was i surprised of the difference!!
It changes everything! Im sure you know what i mean! Its thete, weight and in the way...
But you learn tons from bringing it,the way you carry or sling it...its best to learn it now rather than when your getn on down!

What sucks is.. I know for a FACT I can carry a 240, an M249, and both an M16 & an M4.

What I don't know is. How the hell I'm going to carry a 10 pound FN-FAL with no sling.

Paracord? Duc Tape? Lol.

But seriously, training of nearly any kind will be difficult due to the simple fact that school starts next week. Senior year of college. Finding time to hit the gym will be a task all on its own. I've relocated to a suburb and am still looking for places to shoot since the only public firing ranges are clubs with membership backed up to next year (and it's a bit of a drive).

I do carry an FN-FAL lol, I can get away with it... not like its a  :'( AR-15 or anything.  ;D hahahaahah

I've been thinking about taking the sling off my FR8 and drop it on the FN either way. this is about PT regiments so stay on topic roger!

I've had to drop weight to reinlist  out of the marines and into the army.....i do three workouts a day PX90 in the morning. a 45lbs ruck march ( 4-6 miles) in the afternoon and a 1-3 mile run at night. ..it has kicked my ass but between that and getting into the local 3 gun matches ...i have dropped a lot of weight in 7 weeks. my advise, GET OUT THERE AND DO SOMETHING !!!!, anything is better then sitting on the couch and doing nothing.

include ALL your gear when possible!
There is just no substitution for the real thing!

Talking about training and PT, i like some of the ideas on here and I want to try some of them out real soon.
I love going on ruck marches and coming back feeling exhausted but like I really did some good for myself, I'm not sure if anyone has thought about this or done it but the red, blue, or black dummy guns (rubber duckies) are a good way to get started in an area that you really can't carry a real weapon in.
When you look death in the eyes one too many times, the fast pace of life and the little things that you thought were important aren't really that big a deal.

I load up my ruck, throw an extra 12 pound dumb bell in it... wrap a safety vest around it and carry the other 12 pounder like a rifle.  I do dumb bell exercises alternating arms
