From what I've read elsewhere these things sold out in 36 hours.

Ghost Gunner has been a much bigger success than the DD team had anticipated, and we can only thank you for that. In three days, we've pre-sold over 300 units.
Our batches for shipment for Holiday 2014 at the original promotional prices are now all sold out, but we have decided to extend the order period at $1299 for those still interested for the next 17 days.
Orders from here on are expected to ship Q1 2015.
Thank you for supporting the non-profit work of Defense Distributed.

I can't afford $1.3K at the moment so here is a serious suggestion.
If we can get 13 folks from the forum to throw in $100- each we could buy one. Then ship the unit amongst the 13 to mill out 80%ers. Once each of us mills out the number we want then sell it.
My small FFL experience I suggest it would be illegal or at least on the illegal edge for one person to mill out a bunch of 80%ers and then sell/give to the original investers.
Selling the unit, we could easily recoup our original investment if the prices go up.
Who's in?
PS: if we could get more than 13, so much the better. ;)

Figure shipping to the original orderer. In general figuring don't forget the costs to send to next guy in line. I am in for Franklin and Jefferson on the original. Where to I send the envelope?
As I understand it, you cannot sell, gift or otherwise transfer ownership of finished parts to another person in any way, shape, form, fashion or manner, or you are a felon. Period!
But is it criminal to get a bit of a rental fee for machine usage from your buddies? I do not know.
How about if we get a number punch and put our own serial number? I see a benefit to that so I could easier keep track of usage and wear on each one purchased and finished. Bit then again, maybe not.
Anyone near Oceanside Ca to go into the store and purchase the 80% things and then mail out to us? These are the recommended ones from the machine maker.

Lets just say the unit gets shipped to you. You have lets say 2-3 weeks to make your lowers. Then you pay to mail to the next person ($20). Then the next person has 2-3 weeks to make their lowers and mails it to the next person in line ($20-). Etcetera, etcetera till every one has had the unit and in theory shared in the shipping equally.
At the end of the daisy chain, and nobody in the cooperative wants to borrow the unit, we sell it on Gunbroker.com or other site.
But I am pretty sure you are correct Nemo...You can not sell or give away any lower you make.
Addendum: I am open for further debate however if you don't want to debate :deadHorse: the subject just sign up - PM me. No addresses yet though.

We could also stop talking about this on the forum. Perhapse set up that public key thing....
-
Burt  There you go ;)
-
I would need somewhat detailed explanation on how to make that work.

They gotz these things called directions :lmfao:
Sorry Nemo, I couldn't resist.

Yeah, you think that is sufficiently detailed for me? For Me? FOR ME? :gunner: JohnnyMac

OK, it looks like nobody wants 1/13th share of the "Ghost Gunner."
