I live in a town of about 300 people. The local school has a resource officer from the sheriff’s department. I notice that he’s in different locations more often now. Car drop-off line for instance, at the end of the day pickup drive through, etc.
That’s about it in our town. I know a lot of people here armed all the time, and I am as well. It’s certainly more of a cultural thing for this place though. The vast majority of people here are not your future freedom fighters when the SHTF. They’re just “Republicans”. That’s it. As far as politics are concerned, world events, social strife, economic strain, Trump vs whomever, AntiFa conflicts, etc... Their thought process doesn’t go much further than “I’m Republican”.
I drive an hour away to go to church. Nothing against the ones we have here in town but our pastor is an excellent instructor of the Bible, and my wife and I got married in that church. It’s a big church as well, and it allows me access to some local high profile individuals. Being the HUMINT collector I am, this church is a trove of sources. I just recently picked up an elected county school board member as a first line contact for... Stuff.
So getting to my point, my church has a highly organized security team of volunteers. Former military, current military, former police, one guy was a secret service officer on a White House protection detail, etc. They have weapons concealed and inconspicuous earpiece radios. The pastor himself, having received threats in the past, is always trailed at a distance by two of security volunteers. All areas of the gigantic church grounds are covered by personnel. This is on top of the 3-4 state troopers who sit in the main hallway or the worship center waiting for their time to direct traffic as church lets out.
I haven’t joined up yet but I’ll be asking about it. Being on a big church security detail doesn’t fall into the Gray Man mindset but we’ll see.
The Walmarts in the city are an hour away from me, so I’m not around there much. The ghetto stores already had security and/or cops near the entrance. The non-ghetto stores still don’t.
