Lazers?

What is the difference between a green laser and a red one besides color? Is one better in the day/night and do lasers have a momentary on off switch? If I owned a pistol and it had a laser I wouldn't want to advertise where I am with it on all of the time, I would want to quickly turn it on or off.

Greens are reportedly better for distance in daytime.  I have never really played with them much myself so I cannot give details.

But reportedly the reds are better on delta quadrant creatures and greens better for beta.  Both work well on alpha.  So I hear.

My green lasers appear much brighter than my red lasers in and around my house. I can also (with difficulty) see the green laser on a target in daylight, can't do that with a civilian red one (not that I would even rely on one for daylight use).
I have also read that the green ones are worse for your eyes and can cause blindness even at large distances.
There are many types of lasers, from units that turn on when drawn from a holster to pressure switch activation when you grip/press them to buttons you push to turn on. All depends on what you are looking for and especially size and features. Do you want it paired with a flashlight? Some of the grip units for a 1911 (example) are the best because they work with normal holsters, most others need special holsters.

human eyes are less sensitive to red wavelengths.  I designed LED task lighting for vehicles for daylight and night use.  you have to double up on the red LED's to balance color perception in human eyes. (before blue or white LEDs were commercially available)

i know human eyes are sensitive to green - all the stories about people painting aircraft at airports - some pilots have been blinded by lasers under 5W from longish distances.
several military organizations use green around 750nm to disable night vision and targeting optics.

I've never considered using lasers for myself.  i have tried them and know they are excellent for taking close in shots but they seem too fiddley to me and too prone to failing.  I am curious what you decide on.

 Not buying, just curious. I've seen adds for both but none gave a reason why someone should buy one over the other.

I should have added that I use lasers only for intimidation factor. I shoot quicker without them
