Holy shit!  I went shooting yesterday for the upcoming video @thatguyisms and you wouldn't belive...

I had a regular walmart (cant remember which brand) .45 ACP cartridge eject, fly straight backwards, and NO JOKE flew behind the lens of my glasses.  I immediately secured my weapon, and removed my glasses, but by that time it had literally left a half inch burn directly below my bottom eyelid.  we didn't get it on tape or anything, but be warned.  Eyes and ears for your protection!

I got shot by a bean bag shotgun, and I routinely get laser tattoo removal...

Haven't heard any stories of actual ND's in here yet but here's another about eyes and ears.  I was at the range a couple week's back shooting my AK.  Dunno why but got a Fail to Feed.  I pulled the gun up in my workspace, saw the problem and moved to correct it.  When I pulled the bolt back to eject the unfired, unseated round it flew back and hit me in the sunglasses.  Didn't phase me but was a good turtle moment afterward lol.  I have video and a pic, Ill probably post the pic soon lol.

Yes, all Good Reminders why we should never work on our weapons in a dwelling or in any place we dont want a Live round bouncing around? I have to Remind myself that as well as hearing Protection (SAY WHAT) Yup, Shoting or Protective glasses as well as Muffs or Plugs anytime we handle a firearms never a Bad idea, Over kill, Perhaps!! Better safe then sorry? All god Points and welcomed!

Ron, I think you meant GOOD points there... LOL

But yea, I have ordered a pair of the Howard Leight Impact Sport muffs off Amazon, 52 bucks shipped.  Pretty good since locally they want like 70 bucks...   Ear protection is really important and ear plugs only work so much.  They may reduce the pain of the blast but Ive heard that without muffs the shock wave can still rattle your ear bones causing damage over time.

Honesly I think I got it at this little store that's a mechanic who sells a few rifles and ammunition.  Still a bad idea.

My wife dragged me to the ear Dr. last year. She kept saying that I wasn't paying attention to her- Well yeah!

Well the gal who tested my hearing kept coming on the intercom asking me questions like, "were you in the military?" No. "Did you fire cannons while in the military?" I told you, I wasn't in the military! "Have you worked for blasting companies?" No.

I go done with the tests and went to see the Dr next.

Got the same damn questions from her. NO...I was not in the military...No I didn't work around explosives (not that she knew ha,ha,ha).

Well she told me that I had 75% loss of hearing in my left ear and 50% in my right ear.

The it dawned on me up until...maybe 10 years ago I never wore hearing protection. In my youth I shot a lot of trap and skeet. Also when I was young I played a bit with BIG firecrackers- If you know what I mean and of course I never wore ear protection.

So to make a short story longer- I am a fanatic when it comes to ear protection when shooting with friends or being the RO at the club. Bottom-line, you don't have ear protection you don't shoot around me.

I had a .45 shell hit the wall at the range and bounce back at me and land in the same spot behind my safety glasses. I even had the burn on my face in some of my older vids. There isn't much you can do to stop this type of thing other than wear a hat at the range imo. When I go out in the field to shoot I never wear eye protection.

Shell came back and hit my wife in the eye and making a noticeable bruise, she said it hurt pretty bad.  It was windy, I think that had something to do with it.

I have to admit once I saw this Title I was thinking a completely different item? I had Visions of Firearms discharging in Homes and cars and work places, so Glad I was wrong, But yes, a Ejected case down the front of a persons shirt of Blouse sucks bad as well? The reason for shooting glasses, protecting clothing and all  are clear, have one of these mishaps and see, or as I did bear the scars?

I had a ND with my 1939 manufacture Savage 99 TWICE!

I didn't like the 7# trigger pull and creep on my '39 Savage 99 that I use for deer so I took her to my favorite gunsmith to:

> Clean up the sear and
> See if he could get it down to the 4# range.

Well he got her down to about 4 1/2 #'s and all creep was gone- I loved the job he did.

Put the scope back on her and went to the range that day to check on the zero and to try her out.

After several shots I had the scope zeroed back in and thought I would load her up and give her a quick five shot try. Well while cycling in her third round the rifle went off with my finger no where near the trigger. 

It scared the crap out of me and I kept saying to my self, "I must have accidentally touched the trigger. It couldn't have been the rifle." So figuring I was tired and it was gods way of saying, "go home while you are ahead."

Jump ahead three weeks: I was up at my BOL and I thought I would shoot the old 99 again. I loaded three rounds in the rifle and rested it on my bench rest.

I put her back into the gun case and moved onto a different rifle. Took her back to the gunsmith who re-worked the trigger at no cost. The trigger pull is now 6# still with no creep but I have been hesitant to fire the rifle since then.

I got ya onthat for sure? I had a savage Bolt in 308 I got from a Gun in a trade, the Trigger was all wacked out and adjusted wrog and upon closing the Bolt 9 out of 10 times went off? Man, I took my time and re-adjusted it back out to normal range and mode and no less than 5 pounds pull, I never diod like to sht that Rifle and sold it some months later to a Guy that Hunts each year wit it with no issues??? That kind of scre, hard to get past, INDEED!
