I came across this thread on SurvivalistBoards.  It's a guy from Yugoslavia that talks about the war.  I've spent most of the evening reading through this thread, and I have to say it's been eye opening.  You have to get past his broken English, but there's a hell of a lot of good advice here.

Fascinating.  I love the broken English, just adds to the authenticity.  How about him saying that if you were alone, you'd be killed immediately.  There goes the lone wolf approach right there.  You're going to need a tribe, the more people the better to survive, SHTF.

I think the key point to recognize in his post was that he was trapped in a city.  It's proof positive of what has been said again and again.  If you're in a dense metropolitan area have a plan to get out.  Unfortunately, he and his family were trapped due to a war.  I don't expect that here in the U.S.  Being trapped here would most likely come from military checkpoints in an effort to control the population.  Notice that I said control a population, not save a population.
