Title: Sharing the message part 2
Post by: gapatriot on April 09, 2012, 08:36:20 PM
For those of you that thought what i had to say in the previous sharing the message was a good idea, or for those of you that didnt like the idea. For those of you that did like it this is the place for you to find out whats going on in your area and want to talk to them, for those that dont agree go out anyway and talk to the people on the street and I think you will learn that we arent that different.

Thanks for the link bro.

We need to work up a dialogue or at least a suggested reading list for folks who would like to engage this end of the community.

Maybe some reading on sales or how to listen might be good for starters.  What do you think?

Great idea GAP and TG.   [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co

This is GREAT!

I am going to try to attend one of the events scheduled for this weekend. I think my first appraoch will be to just listen.

I have been involved with sales of one sort or another for over 30 years. The man (or women) who listens rather then talks, walks away with the order each and every time.   :))

Listening is a very good idea, as stated by JM. Important to interact based on common-ground, and try to steer clear of our preconceived ideas of the Occupy movement. These folks are just citizens concerned about the state of the nation, as we are. I can't stress the concept of finding common ground enough with stuff like this.

Most illegal aliens won't bite.  You should be fine.

I just got my marching orders:

Click on HALF DAY PARTICIPANTS GUIDE

My observations so far:

> These folks are very well organized.
> They are using the Internet to its fullest potential.
> They are planning for a serious movement this spring/summer.
> The majority of Americans don't have a clue of what is going on right under their noses.

More to come later.

Edit: Am I the only person on SP going? If you are going too speak up!

im turned off by the fact that they have a Guide in espanol aswell... is it wrong to think that a person who dosent even speak english has no business trying to mold our country? You can pretty much guarantee they are illegal if they dont speak english. im not about to stand on the sidewalk with a bunch of criminals talking about making the country better when they are part of the problem.

They are here, Ken, that's all there is to say about that.  Find a way to use them to your advantage, if you can't, then you're right, don't worry about it, but for God's sake, just give it one try.

Don't let your per-concieved notions get in the way.

Literally try to go with an open mind and have the mindset of, how could I use these people?  Listen to what they have to say, try and understand where they are coming from, even if its literally the opposite of where you are coming from.

Is there anything you could use them for?

We're all in this together, and we'll all be in this collapse as well.

Yeah i hear ya EJR..but i personally dont feel like US and THEM are in this together. i feel like its americans...and then theres the illegals in another category. coyotes dont work together with mtn lions to get deer. I may give this thing a try if i hear good things from others on here but i just dont think their needs and americans needs will ever work towards the goal of a better america. they want nothing to do with a better america. illegals want a better life for themselves at the cost of anything and anyone around them.

Cool Ken.  Well just go down there and talk to them, find out if that's what they really are about or not, so you'll know, first hand.  You're probably right.

Even if they are like that, they only want to enhance their life, at the detriment of everyone else and America, that doesn't mean that you cannot still USE them for something.

Useful idiots comes to mind.

Just the facts:
I attended a moveon.org seminar yesterday, Saturday April 14, 2012. The purpose of the event was to train future community organizers/activists.

The seminar was held in West Providence Rhode Island at the Knight Memorial Library. There were 34 participants and two facilitators. Of the participants present the average age was between 45 and 50 with 7 males and 27 females making up the attendees. Of the males present 3 were of college age and attended the seminar for credit at local colleges or universities. About an equal number of females were there of similar age however they did not admit that they were there for college or university credits.

Of the remaining females attending I saw only one woman with a wedding ring on her finger. With that said many of the other women may have been married. It was also very obvious that about half of the women there were lesbians.

The two facilitators were in their 50?s and one was a female and one was a male. The ladies at my table (I was the only male) called the male facilitator ?Mr. Haines? as his slacks were riding low and his butt cheeks were hanging out over the top of his slacks. His white briefs were very evident and the word Haines was printed on the waist band, hence the nick name.

There was water and soda available along with snack size snacks.

Upon registering you were given a 60+ page bound instruction book that was used during the seminar for reference and training.

The facility over all was very nice and set up for the 85 people who had pre-registered. The facility could have housed 150. The library was located in the ?hood? and had limited parking. I was glad I had arrived early and was able to find parking in the library lot.

The seminar began promptly at 2:00PM ET with Mr. Haines banging a gong. It ended on time at 5:00PM ET.

The seminar:
In general as mentioned earlier the seminar was to address how to target a business entity and run an efficient nonviolent protest without being arrested against that business. The facilitator used a power point video as the curriculum which he stopped frequently to keep the class on schedule.

There was several roll playing activities; however they deteriorated quickly as there was not enough assistant facilitators to keep things under control. The best part of the day was how to plan an event. Here are the steps:

> Need a vision
> Set the goal of the protest
> Develop strategies to help in achieving the goal
> Decide on tactics that would support the strategies
> Assign logistic assignments
> Execute on the protest
> Post the event debrief on what went well and what didn?t.

Overall impression:
Throughout the 3 hour seminar and my networking before and after the seminar, in my opinion, many of the participants were anti-male, anti-bank and anti-business. When pressed on how they would fix things it always came back to needing a bigger government.

During the seminar I heard many side comments like:

> Can you believe that the Supreme Court has the ability to turn down a law like Obama
Care when the majority of the US citizenry want it
> Why should we support banks that were bailed out by the government
> Anybody who makes over $250,000.00 should forfeit those dollars to the government
> The government needs to close down radio and television stations that promote hate
speech (No specific radio or TV stations were mentioned)

My principle goal of attending the seminar was to listen and report. However on several occasions I did, in a friendly way, interject with questions or comments like:

> Who was going to pay for Insert Beef here?
> The Bill of Rights guarantees everyone the right to express their opinions.
> If you don?t like our form of government work towards a Constitutional Convention where
    things can be changed.

Final impressions:
As organized as they were with the signups they fell apart post that. There was no follow up reminder to attend hence only 34 people attended out of the 85 that were signed up.

The two facilitators were very unorganized and due to Mr. Haines style of dress it detracted from the class.

There was a very good PowerPoint presentation to help the facilitators however they did not follow it.

Most of the attendees just seemed to want to bitch about ?the man? rather than learn something and organize. In my opinion none of these folks that left today will do anything other than to brag they attended this event.

With all of this said, the folks behind this event are producing a well-organized program which will do well in some cities.

There is a big protest walk planned to Bank of America on Tuesday of this week. All of the folks were going to withdraw their funds from the bank as a protest move, due to Bank of America?s foreclosure of homes in the area.

Last but most important: These folks were not angry- No, no, they HATED. Hated our Constitution; hated anybody with money. Hated business and hated the banks.

I am very interested in what other SP members hear and see at the meeting's they attend.

Great reporting JMc. I sounds like this meeting was a little bit of a flop. But you just know others have been very successful. These may be the type of folks to go along with the sheeple flock. but would they be capable of making it in dark times? These idiots may be that 99% now. But most likely they will simply be food for wolves later or perhaps become wolves themselves when they realise they have no ability to really care for themselves. I wonder who they will blame whilst they are being devoured by a collapsing society. Prolly not the guberment that will fail to protect them. Or their own failure to take personal responsibility for their safety and well being. Oh well. Still a nice piece of Intel gathering my Friend. A prime example of Social Recon. I guess what makes folks like this so dangerous is the fact that they think they know what is right for everyone else.

Thanks for your comments gents.

As was mentioned by WhiskeyJack this was only one meeting. There are meeting's being convened all over the country. Some in large venues and others in peoples homes. Moveon has announced that they want to train 100,000 activists.

If I think back to my American history: Only 3% of the colonists wanted revolution in the beginning (1775). If we were to use that number as a starting point, that would generate 3,000 activists / organizers.

Lastly, this was one meeting in a New England city. Good intel comes from more then one source. I hope everyone on this forum attends a seminar in their community. This will help us to better understand the OWS movement.

Thanks.

So I met-up with some of the local OWS (Madison-Wisconsin, closest and biggest near me) in an impromptu, casual setting and had a decent time with them. I listened alot, offered a little input and some other viewpoints, which they seemed to generally be okay with. I can't speak to what JM experienced in his day with his local group, but I am satisfied that we need to get behind OWS, or get left by the side of the road. The folks I met seemed very self-reliant and intelligent. So I guess your mileage will vary with the various OWS movements all-around the country.

Thanks Crudos for your report.

On another note: I will not be joining OWS or moveon.org. I will be chatting with those folks though- Listening and expressing my thoughts when appropriate.
