Aussie Peelback

Interesting, in the movie, they are all firing, in this one, basically one soldier is at a time.

Does anyone know the exact reasoning in doing one or the other?

They are both peels. But one is an on line peel that runs left or right. It provides you with a solid firing line whilst one man moves. Used when you have the room to maneuver in.
The training video is an ausi or path peel. its used in tight quarters where your team, squad or platoon cant form a firing line. what you saw in the video is a straight line. But you can also do this in a modified herring bone where team members will take up positions on either side of the path street alley hallway or whatever you are in. One of the things i cant Stress enough is the fact that the tactics used in any situation are dictated by terrain and enemy action. Its a form of working with what you've got. And modification of standard tactics is standard operating procedure. The peel can be modified in a alot of ways. You can peel by twos or threes to manuver your team or squad quickly from left to right to achive a better firing angle on a target while maintaining fire superiority. You can then go from peel to bounding with a quick comand. and attack or retreat. And the only unworthy people are the ones who dont want to learn or those who would use this type of stuff against the weak or inocent. But we all came hear to learn how to survive. And thats worthy. Personally ive learned alot about food storage and poly-tics in my time here. and im gratefull as hell. We all have alot to offer each other. And Ive been thinking of another TacReq.
Good whiskey, makes Jack Rabbit smack da bear.

Slow chase from The Way of the Gun (The video's owner prevents external embedding)

Is this the one, man?  The slow car chase?  The peels and covers?

That movie is completely badass.  Very technical.

I just love this flick sooooo much. The fact that every single charachter is pretty much a bad guy or person just makes it even better. And yes you can tell the technical advisors and director really put a shit ton of thought into the action sequenses. The use of peels, bounds, overwatch and even priciplal extraction( moving the target individule out of the area) were so clean. What i see when i watch that scene are two individules who had excelent planning, situational awarness and most importantly the ability to improvise on the fly. And the way they suckerd the security guards into those alleys, got them into a rythem and then countered with a car wreck was brilliant. And the fact that even though this was a movie you hear the characters use good communication, and every one knew and did their job. Its an awsome example of how teamwork and ingenuity can gel together. And even through the rest of the movie their were very few of those "Hollywood" moments where someone does something outside the realm of reality. The techniuqes were clean
the movments were solid. I mean DAMN just a great flick.

Yeah, I agree, the scenes were SO clean!  The tactical and technical moves were almost flawless and you can tell they had a professional help them with all of that.  Just really awesome.  Its been one of my favorite movies since I was in high school I believe.

If you want to learn this kind of stuff, a guy I know has been to several of the tactical response high risk civilian contractor courses, and they basically teach small unit tactics in the 1st course.

It isn't cheap though, like $1,200 tuition and 3,000+ round count, not to mention the prerequisite course that is $400 and 1,500 round count.
It's better to have it and not need it ...
