I am coming up to my eighth month (224 days since check was cashed) on my suppressor NFA stamp issuance. The bad news is the NFA Examiners in WV/DC are out on furlough. Trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel, once the partial shutdown is over, it is rumored that extra examiners will be brought in to open up the roadblock and stamps should come faster.
My plan is to wait for the shut down to end and then write my Senator who is rated by the NRA to be a A+ for the 2A. This act has at least in the past, helped to grease the wheels a bit for folks who took this tact.
In my opinion, it is what it is. I will take the hit in stride as I do think national security is more important than my suppressor. ;)

JM,
I will be at week 48 this Friday. Ordered 4 items from Silencer shop when their wait time estimated 240 or so days. Oh well, to cold to enjoy them for 2 more months.
-
We see it in extended wait times as individuals. Even those with an SOT are unable to transfer NFA items to another SOT. I know of multiple people with this problem including one who had sold his business and was in the process of closing. His lease ran up so the address on his license is no longer valid. He had submitted the paperwork to ATF prior to his closing but was not processed.
Supposedly they will be putting on additional staff to clear up the backlog, but I wouldnt hold my breath.

Nemo that had coffee coming out of my nose.
ATF closure is definitely creating problems for everyone. Individuals waiting for transfers, licensed shops, even other Gov agencies. I just ran an armorers course for local LEOs. One agency has purchased new Sig MCX's with surpressors. They had received theur rifle but have been unable to get their cans....with no lead time in sight.

My stamps showed up 1 year and 2 days from the date my checks were cashed.
Now the fun begins.

Just caught this one. Anyway, that shows you are not one of them. They can handle my best and keep the coffee inside their nose.
I know. I trained them how to do it. Just snort real hard!

Well now, I called the NFA Administration Dept. of the BATF&E Thursday to find out the status of my suppressor. I was expecting to hear "pending" but what I heard was the suppressor was approved on Wednesday. To cool. Now of course the pleasant lady told me that it could take up to 3-weeks to see the actual paperwork.
Doing a quick calculation; my NFA Form 4, has been in "their" hands for 344-days till May 8th. I do not have possession of my suppressor yet so I am still counting. As of today 347-days and holding.
It ain't over till the fat lady sings my AR is spitting lead suppressed down range. :gunner:

347 days.........good heavens

Government bureaucracy at its best. All you're essentially waiting for is a government receipt showing you paid a tax...
-
That is terrible. Well it is good news hearing that although it hasnt been fully released your can is soon to be out of stamp jail!

Just think...What if someone had plopped down $30,000- for a Drop in auto Sear? Or, plopped down $20,000- for a select fire M-16? Luckily, I only plopped down $920- for my suppressor. So in essence, I have been storing $920- in my Class III's safe with no interest.
-
Well all this is not making me feel any better about my $1000 device in my gun shop's safe.
I'm still wrapping up the paperwork to send in to start my clock...
Fingerprinting on Thursday...

For my 2nd order, stamp #5, check was cashed on July 9th, 2018 and I received stamp and approval on April 26th, 2019. Definitely quicker than the first order. My 3rd order checks were cashed on 3-27-2019 so I hope to have them by New Years.
I have to say that my purchases, specifically paperwork and finger prints, thru the Silencer Shop via one of their kiosk units is the best thing I ever did. They may not have access to every can made, but the process is super easy and quick.

I have heard good things concerning the Silencer Shop.
Just a warning...Before you leave with your finger print card INSPECT that card well. If any of the prints are the least bit smuggy, the ATF will kick them back and ask for another set. My first set were not up to the standards of my class III standard. I went back to the Sheriffs department and asked the Sheriff to do them personally. He chuckled when I asked him and he said, "for you JohnyMac I would do most anything to get ya' out of hair for the day."
Then we sat in his office and enjoyed a Mountain Dew and talked crap for an hour while he printed and then filled out the cards. He affixed his Business Card to the finger print card too with a paperclip and said, "If the Fed's call me, I will tell them you are the county drug dealer and a Democrat to boot." Laughed and then kicked me out of his office.
I get no respect!
