But cheeky banter aside, I would like to contribute a bit (being the whole point of the forum).
So I'll thumb up some items I currently use and why they rock!
And there are some items I dislike, and of course a why with that.
Fiscars Hatchet: It's a great blade, Lightweight rock solid handle, still wood can get caught in the plastic band holding the head in place, so not intended for splitting logs. (although they do make a model specific for that.)
Chainsaw chain: Don't like it at all. the energy you spend on using it is WAY more then you need to. Also you can only effectively do it whilst the log is laying down. If you NEED a saw type and you have space constraints? fine, but getting a pruning type saw works with a lot less effort.
Gerber multitool It's a love hate relation ship with me... Great design, shitty steel. Owned 4 of 'm, broke 3 file's, 2 Philips head screw drivers, permanently damaged the wire cutters on all of them while cutting fucking paper clips. I heard they finally started inserting the removable cutting bits... Oh and you can buy a Leatherman tool more capable, destined to last, for the same damn price.
Osprey packs OMG best thing since sliced bread. allows me to position all heavies as close to my core as possible, it's ergonomic, Ultra light weight. (pinky lift light) it is designed for survival against nature and fatigue, instead of a military and super heated brass.
N95 mask In a BO scenario you are more likely to need a full face respirator then 1 disposable 1 time use 95% effective mask, enclosed area's with a bio threat, smoke hazards, riot gas hazards all not covered.
Suunto Compas I will never go back, it's accurate, it's fast, and just plain darn convenient for orienting on a map.
Cheapo trowel since I only ever used an e-tool for digging fox holes and shit holes. and I'm no longer training to fight the Russians it only leaves one use...
