Mosin Nagant scope mounts and scope advice.
« on: March 16, 2013, 09:06:59 PM »
Anyone have any experience good or bad. I'm going to ship out my bolt to and have this done http://tossanfirearms.com/bolt_conversion.html in the coming weeks (Surgeon bolt), but I'm reading really mixed reviews on the scope mounts. Consensus is the AIM sucks, the UTG is so-so, and no real good reviews on anyone else. Also need a good scope. Anyone using anything currently that won't break or break the bank.

And yes, I'm putting a good amount of money in to my Mosin. This is what one does when he has extra money laying around and his back's torn to shit. Figure if I can't run I'd better be able to shoot the wings off a gnats ass right?

Much appreciated guys. I know Rock Solid Ind. are the guys supplying some parts the Archangel stock so I may lean that way. Any ideas on scopes?

If it was mine I would go with the classic 4x. I hear there are some good reproductions of Pu and Pe scopes out there. But it is not mine and you might want something more practical.

This one's on Ebay

Grudgie- That's what I originally wanted. Everything I've been reading online about the reproductions though has left me nervous. I'm almost thinking about just coughing up the change and going for a Vortex scope. Probably the Diamondback 4-12x40

Ah, very good, very good. I was leaning this way, but I think you've done pushed me over. I've always heard good things about Vortex and I want a quality scope.

It beats ANY $200 scope hand down.
Plus, unlimited lifetime warranty. Don't like it? They replace it.

I only have one on my hunting rifle, am putting a .300 win mag together, planning on a Viper 4-16x50 EBR FFP for it.
will keep you guys posted.
