and you have it with you, ready to fire with minimal prep work. A thumb swipe on the safety or squeeze on the grip safety should be the maximum necessary to be ready to go boom with a trigger pull.
Loaded is a good thing too.

You won't believe this story. About 15 years ago, my friend who was the Chief of Police in a City of about 40,000 people, was jogging on the sidewalk of a main road in broad daylight and a fellow ran up to him and shoved a revolver in his face and said "Give me your money". When my friend told him that he didn't have his wallet with him because he was wearing a jogging suit, the guy pulled the trigger and all he heard was a CLICK. The guy realised that he misfired and he ran away. The robber was a dumbass for not realising that sweatpants rarely have pockets and my friend was a dumbass for not carrying protection. Damn! He was the Police Chief and knows damned well how dangerous his own city is.
