Theres complete chaos in the city streets and martial law is declared in America, You decide to take your family to escape danger into the mountains where your family has a cabin, but you are worried that people from the city may go there to hurt you and your family and take your cabin and supplies and you dont know if things will ever be normal again. You realize you can only bring two guns for whatever reason but have extra ammo stored at your location. What two waepons would you bring and why would you choose those?
Ill start by choosing mine.
#1. The AK47. of course! you can defend you location from multiple threats and its very effective at close range. Its easy to clean, maintain, and operate. It fires a heavy round that punches thru lots of brush.
#2 The Romanian PSL. It is plenty accurate to fire 4-600 yards if you practice with it and its the same operating system as the ak but in 7.62x54r.

my 22 rifle and my 357 mag revolver
-
Is there a specific reason for those two guns mountain?
-
,22LR scoped rifle, and
12 ga. shotgun.
The .22 is a versatile weapon and the round can be used in rifle and/ or handgun. Plus it adds a monetary dimension to the equation if used for trade/barter.
The shotgun is too versatile: Bird shot, buckshot, slug. The empty shells can be loaded with shotgun powder or even black powder.
-
If I could only choose two.... Your's and everyone elses!
But really, I'd a .22 hush puppy and a AR-15. People overlook the potential uses of a suppressed .22 pistol, you can take game without scaring off all the other game... or face shoot people without their friends knowing.
Oh and because AKs suck.. :o
-
M1 Garand. It can kill big animals like deer and humans. Doesn't look as scary as a black rifle or a Commie rifle.
Marlin 60. It can kill small animals. You have lots of bullets. You can train people on it before you let them shoot my PRIZED M1 GARAND.

(http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-fc/hiding.gif)psstt.... grudgie..... shhhh...... some one is going to talk shit about that.....
-
1) My SKS, cause that's what I have right now, besides 3006's, 22s, and shotguns. (the 22 is a good choice though)
2) My Sig P226, 40 S&W, cause it's my baby.
.......but see, my family is going, so I could take a variety of guns, cause they'll be carrying also. I know what you mean though.

To your point TG..."Oh and because AKs suck.. :o" [URL=http://www.smileyvault.co
I picked the practical. If I wasn't thinking of the practical I'd stay with the .22 but add my AR.
-
I would bring my Mossberg 702 Plinkster .22LR and my Mossberg Maverick 88 12 gauge shotgun
-
A ruger mk3 and my MAK-90... Although i AM falling in love with my new FAL.

only 2..... well i want a .22lr for hunting but if your trying to look badass infront of the ladies, racking a 10/22 is not going to work. little 1 inch action stroke... "click, click.. Dont worry ill protect you"...lol... so i need the shotgun... then its either the 10/22 or the glock.... i dont know ill decide later..
-
I hate threads like this. But I will play.
Ruger 10/22
Remington 870 WM Magnum.

It's not the size of the action, it's how you use it... or when! If a chick's not impressed with the .22, wait a few days then kill something and feed her. If that doesn't do it, wait a few more days til she's weak with hunger...
It may take longer to instill gratitude in some, but humbling eventually occurs when the correct pressures are applied ;D

I was thinking something like this,

I actually had that exact gun TG. I through it in to sweeten a deal to get rid of a P90 45 that I hated. The only time I've ever got rid of a gun in my life instead of holding on to it to pass down. I've kicked myself in the butt several times since for letting the MKIII go. That was a sweet shooting, very accurate gun. I've considered several times buying another one. But man I hated that P90 like I've hated few other things. If anyone is a P90 advocate out there, I don't even want to to talk about it. I'm glad you love your gun. Nuff said.
-
Now as for the two I would take.
I agree with mountain. A 22lr rifle (marlin with Sweet 22 scope in my case) and a 357 revolver.
But then if I get stuck with only an AK and a shotty I doubt I would find much to complain about. Snares would handle the need for small game.
-
My M4 and my G17 or 19. I have a .22 conversion for the AR so I have that covered. :P
-
It's late and I'm feeling punchy, I'll play.
I would take the two 40mm guns because they are mounted on an armored self propelled chassis with room for passengers. The extra ammo at the cabin you mentioned would be nice for repelling the hoards of city folk.
-
If it's all on the same chassis wouldn't it only be one gun?
-
My 2, what I have seen and used in so many Countries:
Maddi Egyptian made Copy of Russian AK-47 in 7.62X39

Sneaky...
In that case i want my 870 with the .22lr chamber insert and the Glock.

Ruger 10/22

That would help me sleep at night.
