I just cycled out my carry ammo today and shot out the old stuff at the range. It was about 1.5 years in the magazines old. No issues.
So I went to buy new carry ammo. Hornady has come out with a new wrapper for one of their decades old defense ammo loads similar to what they did with the zombie loads. It's called "American gunner" and is the standard XTP bullet in either 115gr or 124gr +P loads. The box is shiny and covered in red white and blue flag stuff. I mistakingly (the chick behind the counter fucked up and so did I for trusting her) ended up with one box of each rather than 2 matching boxes. Since it's the same ammo and I haven't heard of the box the ammo came in being the cause of any malfunctions(and I only shoot glocks
)I'm going to forgo shooting $50 worth of the ammo to verify that it runs OK.
I am however going to buy a second box of one load or the other. Maybe I'll shoot a few of the +P and see if it has noticeably more recoil. If not I'll get a second box of that.
