Title: How did we miss this?
Post by: JoJo on March 12, 2019, 07:15:19 PM
Patriotman brought this up in another post and it started me thinking.

Yup. There is a reason we are scared of China and Russia's anti-satellite capabilities and why they are teaching celestial navigation in the Navy again.

What would happen if our satellites were taken out and except for land lines and ham radio there wouldn't be any communication? How would we know what happened? We would still have power our cars will still be running no one would think of an EMP because there wasn't one. The local radio stations most likely would still be working but they wouldn't know what happened either.

 Just some food for thought.

We are exceptionally vunerable to space attacks. There is a reason for Trump's Space Force. No satellites means our comms and navigation are down and our spy abilities are degraded. I believe either Obama or Trump said that they would treat a First Strike in space on par with a Nuclear First Strike.

When the attacks against satelites start, eventually everyone will lose their satelites, depending on what altitude they are at. Similar to the movie Gravity.

Good Lord I haven't celestial navigation since the early '90's. I sold my sextant with our sailboat around 2012. OMG! :hiding:
