AR15 question
« on: May 23, 2019, 05:59:07 PM »
On an AR15 with a standard hand guard (holes on top and holes on bottom) accept a quick disconnect sling swivel by itself or is an adapter needed?

JoJo

The standard round handguards for AR's are not designed to take a QD sling mount. There are a couple that you can look at that are good options for adapting to your handguard.  IWC makes a couple of versions that you can mount onto your gun with a little "custom fitting"

1. https://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/qd-micro-mount/
2. https://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/product/rotation-limited-quick-detach-sling/

You can also use an Mlock or Keymod mount.  You will need to file the index features off the bottom to get it to sit in your handguard flush, but it come out quite nice.

Blue Force Gear also makes a wire loop mounted QD that attaches at the FSP. It was meant for AK's but works out very well for stock AR's.

I hope this is helpful.

Thanks again Chris, I just finished installing the QD sling mount #1. A little grinding was necessary but it fits great. Now to get the correct sling. The one I have has hooks and it makes a lot of noise.

I personally run a VTAC sling and love it.
Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

That's exactly what I was looking for. Now to save up my pennies to buy one.
