that rear sight, how much was it? my uncle built some ARs and put those sights on them, he bought some that were $22 and one flat out broke off after about 15 rds..

Mine was $30 and it is crap.
Im just in a bit of a financial spot right now and its hard to anything firearm related.
The POS flips back down when you fire, i fucking hate it.

Im gong to a non-flip rear ASAP.

don't be so hasty, the Magpul flip up rear is badass and it's only about $30 (somewhere in that ballpark). good SOLID locking mechanism on it. it don't go nowhere unless you put it there.

of course, a flip-up is kind of pointless unless you're running optics capable of co-witness. back when I had money, I forked out the funds for an EOTech which is why I got the Magpul MBUS. but if I was only running irons I'd have my carry handle on there for sure. It's all up to you bro. but a flip-up is a must-have if you're relying on any kind of battery-operated optic.

I'm sure there's many guys around who may call bullshit on me or have other suggestions but in my limited experience, that flip up has done well for sure. I don't have any experience with the Mpul front sights though, only the rear, so I can't comment on those.

one thing on the MBUS, make sure its real. theres this guy at my gun shows who builds and sells cheap ARs with fake MBUSs on them. not that big a deal but when your buying them make sure. the real ones have a magpul symbol on them, they dont say MBUS and they FLY open, the ones this guy has barley open on there own.

I'd encourage anyone who's even the slightest bit interested to go to the gunshop and play with a Magpul MBUS. you'll notice right off the bat the the SECOND your finger flips the switch, that mother fucker flips up like a damn rat-trap. it's a VERY well put-together product. don't be fooled by immitations.

I'm completely satisfied with the rear MBUS I have. It's affordable and it works well. My only gripes with it are engaging the plastic aperture window from small to large takes a second; not at easy as just quickly flipping. And if you're running straight irons with no optic the sight can get caught up in kit and disengage to it's closed position if you're not paying attention. Leaving you with a folded rear sight when you bring your weapon on target. They should have made a two way locking system. But what the hell, it's a polymer Magpul product that's a cheap solution to higher end expensive accessories. I also haven't found a use for the no aperture window function; why not just flip the sight down?   

I drank the Magpul kool-aid a little too much when building my AR. I will say I'm not a huge fan of the handgaurd. Sucker moves around and is looser than my ex wife. Will be dropping money soon on a nice rail system, perhaps troy, MI, DD or YHM....haven't decided yet.

I got pretty into magpul for a while but I've never used one of their handguards. I'll tell you with certainty that the CTR buttstock and the AFG foregrip are great. I'm sure there's plenty of quality rails out there but I went the the Daniel Defense Omega and I couldn't be happier with it. good and solid and doesn't wiggle or come loose one bit. I think it was somewhere in the $250 range but it's been a while so I can't remember.
