Why This Military Officer Says Drop The Bug-Out Bag!
« on: September 23, 2014, 09:23:06 AM »

A lightweight supplement to your bug-out bag. As has been a preaching point here since the beginning, as light-weight as possible is the optimal situation. Thanks TG for drilling that into my head over the years.

Good video to put some thought into.   The title made me laugh when I started watching. Military "Officer" is a Petty Officer 3rd Class which is an E4. Army equivalent is Corporal or Specialist.  Generally not in danger of being considered an Officer :-).

saving the world from disaster, one fanny pack at a time....

Seriously though guy's a hell of a salesman when he pulled out the "now write this down" I lol'd and was wondering whether that fanny pack was made by Germans and if I could get "now not one, but TWO!" when I buy it.

* S&H not included, handling fees may apply. Item is not rated as a flotation device. In case of starvation do not attempt to eat the item. Vendor not liable for lost limbs due to angry biker gang with fanny pack prejudice. Not available in all states. Product is not guaranteed to save life if chased by living dead (zombies).  Special financing may be available.

But Wait There's More!
I fear for the psyche of our society.  especially from generalissimo E4 - Oh Snap!
I think that paring down what you carry is important - that is a good point.  One thing I learned decades ago was an adage;  If you need it, take it but pare away relentlessly.  That person - in a book - mentioned wilderness trekking with an IVO bar (and ivory soap bar cut in half).  (I'm hoping this is making sense)  I've graduated to Dr. Browner's peppermint soap - good from head to toe and isn't too bad for brushing your teeth - and will clean your dirty dishes too.  There have to be lots of examples.  I guess a modern version is in the crash bag - no more handfuls of gauze, QC and any sterile dressing work just fine.  I can't say enough how much easier it is to carry the new splints (like Sam splints).  we used to look for magazines -getting scarce now - worked fine (at the time).

any other new ideas?

Quick tip, say no to gortex patch, medical tape, seam seal, band aids and all that shit and say yes to gorilla tape.

Also Dr.Brammer's brainwash is the shit!
